Here is a TVR Tasmin 2.8i 2+2 4 seater Coupe - very rare now
It is for sale as spares or repair as it is not finished or running at present, I won"t have the time to finish it any time soon - & I don"t want it stood till I retire !!
When I bought it the automatic gearbox blew all its oil out so I decided to convert it to manual - it now has a Capri 2.8i 5 speed gearbox fitted.It was suppose to be a running driving car & it did start and drive, till the gearbox blew !!!Once home it was stripped completely to chassis and new outriggers welded on, these are 316 grade stainless steel now so will never need replacing, the complete chassis was stripped of paint derusted and treated with rust converter then 7 coats of Hammerite was sprayed on. The outriggers were sleeved internally so are very strong.
The following is what I can remember doing to the carEvery rubber bush was replaced on the car - a total off nearly £500 !!! Every nut bolt or screw I could replace has been swapped to stainless ( not suspension bolts as these are new high tensile screws ) Rear brakes - new discs / pads / refurbed calipers / all new handbrake parts& pads Jaguar 3.54/1 rear diff - this was refurbed before I bought it ( standard 3/1 diff can go with car if you want it)All suspension parts derusted and painted + all new ball jointsNew brake pipes through outNew clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder with all new pipes, hydraulic clutch is very smooth.Engine - new exhaust gaskets, plugs, distributor cap, plug leads, coil, thermostat, fuel pipes front to rear + tank to pump New steering rack boots and track rod endsSteering column Plastic bush has been replaced with a self aligning stainless bearing so is really solidIt has a stainless exhaust but needs work to get it usable , but it"s there.The body had stresscracks in the usual places but these have been ground out and re bonded then strengthened inside so body is now solid, it was given a quick coat of black paint which has reacted in places, my plan was to get it on the road then get it painted properly.Every piece of glass was removed & has now been re bonded properly, the windscreen is brand new New front indicatorsInside has new carpets, front seats need new foam and a good clean
Now it is back together the electrics don"t work, I don"t know if I"ve missed an earth off or what, I was going to put in a hot rod loom which are £150. It has the black wire loom which has me pulling my hair out.
There are most bits still with it the following is bits I know it will need- but not a conclusive listSeat beltsExhaust or mend the one with itWiring sortingWheels refurbing & tyresHeadlights - brackets & motors come with it & work
It has the original TVR handbook, plus a ford engine handbook these will be quite rareThere is a bit of history & receipts in a folder & I have the full history of the car from DVLAI have the V5 in my name
I have a video of the engine running, sounds rough as exhaust was loose. I will put all the photo shows I"ve taken on a disc (100s of them)
