1986 C Reg LAND Rover Defender 90 2.8 Turbo Diesel engine.
Vehicle is on a SORN.
I purchased it recently (SORN"d) thinking I would put some time and effort into getting it MOT"d and to use it green laning or trialling it with my son and his mates.
However, my wife says I have too much on building an extension to the house so I think it would sit outside for a year before I even started to look at it. To be honest she is right and I need to prioritise where I am spending money. Toys or house. Its a simple and honest as that. The wife says its the house. :(
It needs some chassis welding - front off side outrigger, main chassis rail right and left hand side. I would guess at a few hundred quid if someone else did it for you.
It also needs two headlights and an indicator repeater lense on the right hand side. I would guess 40 quid for new ones
Head lights and LED spot lights all work, the roll cage mounted lights are astonishing.
The roll cage is a bolt together one, which if you wanted could be unbolted and removed.
Passenger side mirror missing but Ive just seen them on ebay for a tenner.
It has a reent front winch bumper fitted but had no winch on it when I bought it.
Its got rock sliders fitted to each side.
I was told by the previous owner that he had it on the farm for 4 years as an off roader and used it for trials competetions.
It has battery isolators fitted and a set of 3 point harnesses to keep you in the seats.
Its got fabric ranger rover seats in it which have a few rips in them, but hey, its a LAND rover. Ebay range rover seats 50 quid ish? LAND rover ones about 100 quid ish?
Its on disco 1 alloys with INSA Turbo Special Track Mud Terrain tyres. one of which is brand new..zero miles on it. There are only 4 of them tho. No spare.
It has a terrafirma 2 inch lift kit.
It has a DAIHATSU 2.8 Turbo engine fitted giving much more torque and BHP and better fuel economy (!) - check out the forums for comments on this conversion.
It has the LAND rover gearbox and transfer box all working great.
The log book says its blue, but someone prior to me rattle can painted it all mat black.
I"ve had the stop start stuff done in the last few weeks. New glow plugs, so it starts on the button every time, and it stops perfectly with new copper pipe work to the rear.
It has had a new cross member fitted prior to me owning it and it looks like that wasn"t that long ago.
I have filled it with disel so I now know that the guage isnt working but I dont know why - probalby the sender wiring but I havent looked.
I have driven it recently, it all works as it should horn, lights, wipers, etc...brakes were terrible but I have a very recent receipt for that work being done in my local garage.
Snorkel fitted and exhaust is thru the rear wing behind the rear near side wheel.
Open to offers for it, dont be silly I know what these are worth.
