“The bodywork is sound, but with some small areas of corrosion, it really needs a respray to make it stunning. Air-conditioning needs recharging. Timing belts were changed about 1500 kms ago - but that was in 2001.When the engine is cold, it's a bit lumpy to start with, but once warmed up soon runs smoothly. Might be the electronic ignition as the 'E.I.' light symbol is lit on the dash.”

Lancia THEMA 8.32 (1987 Series 1) – with a V8 FERRARI ENGINE
A very nice original example, imported from Italy in 1999. There are only a few of these in the UK and they seldom come up for sale. This classic car offers stunning performance and excellent refinement, including a luxurious hand made wood and leather interior by Poltrona Frau, and the lovely sound of that V8.
The good bits:
I bought the car in 2011 as a non-runner, so the last 4 years have been spent getting it on the road (I have many photographs to show what has been done). There is still more work to do but I"ve not got the time due to other commitments. So the new owner can enjoy completing the project. Since getting it back on the road it has been used regularly, but only on local journeys - I"ve not taken it on a long run.
Recent work:
Complete new stainless steel exhaust.
Engine recently retuned and set-up by Lancia specialists Walker’s Garage.
Brakes completely overhauled – new discs, reconditioned callipers, and new pads all round.
Previous owner replaced the clutch, new timing/cambelts, tensioner bearings, crankshaft oil seal about 1500 km ago, in 2001 (For the timing/cambelts the official service manual states that they should be checked every 10,000 km and changed at least every 30,000 km).
It’s had very low mileage in recent years due to this ongoing work (current reading is 110,086 km, and in 2001 was 108,381 km).
The not so good bits!:
For a 29 year old car it"s in good condition and the bodywork is sound, with no dents and no accident damage.
The THEMA has a galvanised body so is well protected but there are a few small points of corrosion which can be quite easily remedied. However, as you will see from the photographs, some panels/fittings need respraying and it will need a full re-spray to really make it stunning.
As with many Italian cars there are a few electrical idiosyncrasies. The air-con comes on as soon as you start up but is easily turned off. The electronically operated spoiler seems to have a mind of its own (Currently it is disconnected). The sun-roof has a problem - it was working until recently (not sure what the problem is with this?).
The air-conditioning needs re-charging.
