1988 Lancia DELTA TURBO MARTINI (NOT INTEGRALE) 73K FABULOUS ORIGINAL CONDITION
Here is my beautiful unmolested 1988 Lancia DELTA Turbo which I am selling reluctantly due to a change in personal circumstances.
This is now a very rare car. The Lancia DELTA Turbo Martini was built as a limited edition to celebrate Lancia’s success In the World Rally Championship. The Lancia DELTA Rally Car won a record 6 world rally championships between 1987 and 1992 and remains one of the most successful rally cars in history.
The DELTA Turbo was the predecessor to the Integrale and I believe there are now only approx 25 examples being used on the road in the U.K. there are more stored away in collections but I believe the numbers are still very small and for every one that’s dry stored in a collection there is another one sitting in a yard somewhere in a very sorry state and completely beyond economical restoration. Of these that are left I don’t know how many are Martini special editions but I hope you get the picture, that this is now a very rare car indeed.
This is a genuine and original U.K. supplied right hand drive car in almost all original condition.
I am a beyond help petrolhead with over 30 years experience, when I saw this car I simply had to have it and I bought this car with the intention of keeping it for many years. It has an extensive file with previous MOT’s, receipts, and the original genuine owners wallet and handbook. When I bought the car it had been recently re-commissioned following a very long period of nearly 20 years in dry storage (hence the low mileage, originality and condition). It was serviced and MOT’d and had been used only a little in the last couple of years. As a result the car has covered only just over 1,000 miles in the last 20 years.
Included with the car are:
2 sets of genuine Lancia keys with Lancia key rings
Original and complete tool kit with tool roll, very rare.
Original spare wheel and jack.
Original sales catalogues and marketing material/brochures.
Original Lancia DELTA price lists from 1987/1988.
An original Lancia Factory Workshop ring binder workshop manual, also a very rare item.
I like my cars to be as good as they can possibly be within the limits of what’s possible according to their underlying age, mileage and condition. I have personally done a few little cosmetic jobs to bring it up to as good a condition as possible but in all honesty there was very little to do. I’ve changed the brake discs and pads, fitted a new battery, replaced the tailgate support struts which were completely shot, and a few minor wear and tear items such as bulbs, wiper blades etc etc
Not long before I bought the car the all important timing belt was changed and the rear top mounts replaced (receipts available).
I don’t believe the car has ever had any accident damage. Every piece of glass is original with the Lancia logo and markings, and all of the glass is etched with the original registration number which if you’re as old as me you will remember many years ago this was seen as a deterrent against theft. I put some new pressed steel number plates on it but I also still have what I believe are the original plates that it came with when brand new.
The exterior is in excellent condition. There are a few areas where the paintwork has needed attention including the bottom of the rear doors, a little area on the bulkhead, and the same on the rear lip area of the roof. However the car has never had any major restoration work and remains one of the very few original cars in existence.
If anything the interior is better than the exterior. The Martini special edition seats and door cards are in fantastic condition, the carpets are barely worn, the dashboard is all original and has never been messed about with or had any additional holes made in it, and everything still works as it should including all of the gauges and clocks. The door cards have no extra speaker holes, and even the rear parcel shelf is included and is complete and undamaged, this is very rare indeed to find. The car has a factory fitted sliding sunroof which also works perfectly. The front electric windows both work and the Blaupunkt Radio Cassette player works perfectly.
I have owned many luxury and sports cars over the years but nothing I have owned before gets the attention and admiration that this little Lancia does. Everywhere I park it people will come up and look around it, comment and ask about it.
The car drives beautifully, the engine starts easily, revs freely, no nasty rattles or smoke, and it pulls superbly as if it was 3 years old, not 30 years. The turbo works fine and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. The oil is clean, on startup from cold first gear and reverse need a little delicate care when engaging but once the engine has warmed up the clutch and gearbox are lovely and precise.
With the absence of almost all modern day creature comforts such as power steering, ABS, air conditioning, airbags, electric everything etc etc, driving this car is a very involving experience. The steering is heavy at low speeds but once you get moving the feel and handling is lovely and precise and the upside of having so much less baggage is that this car weighs in a couple of 100 kg less than a modern day equivalent and you really feel that difference every time you accelerate, brake or turn in to a corner.
As I said earlier I’m selling this car due only to a change in circumstances so I’m not interested in trades or part exchanges. That said, I might consider a much cheaper car in part exchange but it would only be to enable a deal to be reached, so it would have to be a much cheaper car and at trade price only as I would just sell it on myself.
If you’ve read this far then we’ll done and thank you for your patience and time. Please message me with any questions.
Collection from North Lincolnshire following cash payment or cleared funds in my bank via bank transfer, PayPal friends/family etc.
One last thing if you are interested in the car or have any questions I’m happy to talk over the phone but please message me first as I get quite a lot of cold calls and sometimes I don’t answer if I’m not expecting a call or don’t recognise the number, thank you.
