“Bentley Turbo R. First registered December 1989 but being a 1990 model. We have known this car since 2000 when a friend of mine bought it. He spent just over £14,000 on the car ( I have all the invoices) in one year before selling it to another friend of mine. The car was hardly used and we think it covered less than 1,000 miles in eight years, most of those I did when I borrowed it for a trip. I purchased the car in 2014 and have covered somewhere in the region of 3,000 miles, mostly as wedding transport although I have just done a trip down through Normandy.The car was supplied new by Harwoods of Pulborough. Now I know it has covered 156,000 miles but I believe this isn't a problem for a vehicle of this stature. Having trained on vehicles using this engine during the mid 70's and into the early 80's I know what they are capable of. He spent just over £14,000 on the car ( I have all the invoices) in one year before selling it to another friend  of mine. The car was hardly used and we think it covered less than 1,000 miles inEight years, most of those I did when I borrowed it for a trip. I purchased the car in 2014 as a 60th birthday present to myself and have covered somewhere in the region of 2,000 miles.
The car was supplied new by Harwoods of Pulborough. Now I know it has covered 156,000 miles but I believe this isn"t a problem for a vehicle of this stature. Having trained on vehicles using this engine during the mid 70"s and into the early 80"s I know what they are capable of. In later life I was After Sales Manager of a Surrey based R-R and Bentley specialists and have seen mileages a lot higher than this. And after all it is less than 7,000 miles a year average. The first owner seems responsible for the majority of the useage as there is full Harwoods history to 138,500 miles in September 1999. My friend used Royce Service in Surrey and there are both stamps and invoices for that period. My second friend used a technician from Royce privately and I have done most of the maintenance whilst in my ownership. So since 1999 the car has covered only somewhere in the region of 15,000 miles, 1,000 per year.
The car is finished in Bentley Royal Blue Metallic with blue hide piped in beige with rear picnic tables. There are a full set of lambs wool rugs and two foot stools. The interior is in lovely condition with good woodwork, there is one chip on the o/s/r door capping between the door lock button and the glass. A good quality Kenwood cd head set has been fitted with a Kenwood six stack cd in the boot. The exterior is again in good condition. There is a small rust blister on the o/s/r wheel arch, I had it attended to when I first got the car and paid £250 for the repair. There is a chip on the o/s edge of the boot lid and a blister on the edge of the n/s/f wheel arch. The alloys are in good order so to is the chrome/stainless. Active suspension was a feature of the 90 model, heated memory seats, alpine horns, trip computer are standard fittings
If money and space was not a problem I would love to keep this car. As I mentioned before I do a bit of wedding work but our Rolls-Royce seems to be getting all the business so we have bought a second one. However having said that, if we are going out and want to take one of the "posh" cars it is always the Bentley.
In the last 3,000 miles the following work has been carried out:-
*New brake accumulators and valve bodies.
*Factory re-con steering rack.
*Rear suspension gas springs.
*Full air conditioning overhaul, including new compressor, dryer, expansion valve, some pipework, and belt.
*Wiper blades.
*Electric aerial.
*Automatic gearbox removed, rebuilt and refitted with a re-con torque converter.
*Both brake pumps rebuilt.
*A flying "B" fitted to the front grille.
