After owning this car for 13 ½ years the time has sadly come to sell, really due to lack of available storage. This car is an absolute pleasure to drive, in all my 30 plus years of driving I have never enjoyed driving a car as much, even other BMWs.
The car was bought in 2003 from the then Greyhound Ford in Accrington where one of the salesman had taken ownership following the death of his father-in-law who had owned the car from new having bought in from Halliwell Jones in Southport. When I bought the car it had only done 19,000 miles since which time I have only done approximately 2000 miles a year in it as it’s been used a second car. It has passed each MOT first time, the last one being on 09.09.16, albeit there are some advisories relating to wear and tear items. It has 12 service stamps which is quite high considering the low mileage.The last service was at just under 43,000 miles last July. A new battery has been recently fitted, the electric sunroof and windows are all in working order, there is a Pioneer radio/cassette and back speakers and 2 keys. All the seats are clean with no markings or rips and no signs of wear to the dashboard. There are even the original first aid and tool kits included in the boot.
As can be seen from the photos the bodywork does require attention which is reflected in the auction price however in the right hands this would be a fantastic project for someone who is able to devote the time and attention required to bring the exterior back to its former glory and who will enjoy driving it as much as I certainly have. This really is an exceptional car for its age.
