These cars have a reputation for being forgotten gems however if you have ever had the pleasure of driving one there is certainly very little you will want to forget! The handling is superb and the power response is instant. I can honestly say I have never driven a car more fun than an ELAN!
The ELANs are starting now to appreciate in value with some examples now surpassing their original sale price.
This specific example is finished in Calypso red, The bodywork is good for the year however it is a fibreglass body so not 100% perfect. If you are fussy then a paint correction would sort most imperfections.
The hood is in good condition for the year with the rear plastic clear and unbroken. As with all ELANs the seals are not 100% and will no doubt leak in a shower however I would suggest you keep the car garaged only emerging on sunny days.
Interior is leather with red carpet. Not any damage however is a little tired and a good detail would bring it up to spec. All the gauges work, the radio works, Electric windows are quick to open and close.
Original Lotus alloy wheels in black, tyres have lots of tread left. Kerbing to wheels in places.
Now on to the good part that infamous Isuzu/Lotus engine! What a unit this is. This example has 62k which is low. These engines are good for 200k! Mechanically the car is spot on. Turbo boosts between 4k and 7k as it should.
Good service history further complimented by favourable mot history with the two previous mots having no advisories. Current MOT valid until next March. Cambelt changed less than 1000 miles ago. Brake pipes and calipers all look very recent. As you can see the engine bay is clean and clearly been well cared for.
The Lotus however was declared cat c in 2006 with drivers side wing damage however this in no way detracts negatively on the vehicle in any capacity.
I bought this from a Lotus enthusiast, This was his 12th Lotus however he now sadly finds himself with no garage and being concerned for the cars well being sold it onto me to auction off.
Whoever buys this car will be buying into a wonderful example of British motoring. The condition is fairly good throughout, These cars are handbuilt so they do not have the same quality finish as some of their rivals and do require some maintenance however the rewards of owning a Lotus far out
