1990 Renault 5 GT Turbo with Volvo B18FT conversion, Tungsten Grey
Engine/GearboxVolvo B18FT 1.7 from a low mileage (40k car) which is bolted in to the car using the correct Renault 5 GTX front engine mount. Boost and coolant plumbing has been done to retain the original GT Turbo intercooler and radiator.The exhaust system is a Scorpion stainless, the front pipe has been modified to mate up to the Volvo downpipe. Gearbox has had a £670 rebuild at Renault for which I have a receipt in the history. The car has a solid alloy gear stick assembly as per pictures.
Suspension/BrakesThe car has Monroe front shocks with lowering springs which are approximately 30mm lower than standard.Rear torsion bar is unaltered, I prised off the end caps to lubricate the mechanism and it is not corroded at all - there are new KYB shocks on the rear axle. The car has slotted standard diameter front brake discs with Mintex M1144 performance brake pads.Rear brakes are standard with new Pagid brake pads. Aeroquip braided brake hoses on all four corners. Within the last couple of weeks I replaced the rear brake bias valve as this was leaking. The car is on standard wheels which are all in reasonable condition, tyres are Yokohama A539s which were replaced around 2 months ago on all four corners.
Bodywork/InteriorThe rear of the car including the rear quarters are in good condition, I have had the entire body kit off the car and there was no serious rust at all with the exception of a small patch on the driver"s sill which I patched. The car comes with a good Tungsten Grey bonnet which has no broken studs but does have a patch of rust on the leading edge which is around 4-5cm wide. Driver"s door, front wings and the front bumper need some repair/paintwork and I would have these resprayed if I was keeping the car. There are no fogs fitted in the images but a mint set is included at asking price. Front seats are worn out but the rear bench is mint. Car has phase 1 GT Turbo rear door cards and Campus front cards, headlining is missing but a mint one is included in the sale.
Other pointsThe car has no tax or test and is effectively a rolling project which needs a small amount of tidying up and an MOT. I live/work away and due to loss of storage for the car it needs to go - if it doesn"t attract the money I want then I will look into alternate storage locations and hold onto it.You will not be able to test drive the car but it is of course running and you will be able to properly look it over.The car is HPI clear and I have the V5 - there is a decent amount of service history with the car including a service manual stamped to 90k miles, a heap of bills most from Renault dealers, a stack of old MOTs and tax discs dating back to 2000.
