vehicle description:

1991 Mercedes-Benz 250d (Turbo + intercooler) 5 speed Manual.
A rare and unusual W124 5 cylinder diesel I bought recently with the intention of customising and reaping the benefits. However; with a child on the way, I’m going to need all the money I can get so this dream is shelved, at least for now!
If you’re reading this ad you already know the legendary status of these models and this engine in particular as an utterly bomb proof mega mile muncher.
They have ability to run on veg oil, although I haven’t tried it and it had diesel in when I bought it.
This particular car had an aftermarket turbo and intercooler fitted by TB Turbos of Lancaster to give it extra grunt a year after it was bought new. I think they were pretty slow as a non-turbo and the turbo versions were not available in the UK (TB Turbos went bump some time ago but their engineers still operate out of a unit in Lancaster doing the same work).
The chassis is solid and free from rust, the engine is solid and works well, economically and smooth on the motorway and the manual gearbox and clutch are in good order. The brakes all work and the tyres are good. The car tracks straight and true and will drive almost anywhere in 5th.
Below is a list of all the important info:
150,000 miles (check the MOT history online, it’s genuine);MOT February 2017 (9 months);Recent oil and filter change; All tyres in moderate condition (the front two don’t match but are fine);2 keys, central locking;Factory sunroof, no leaks;Interior very tidy (only a tiny tear on drivers bolster) and extremely comfy;Very cheap to insure.
Below are the points which I was going to address before making this my everyday car. You may or may not want to fix these as the car works regardless. With the exception of the paint, they are all cheap fixes:
Front wing has been sanded and wants painting, and there are some other rust bubbles (I was just going to have the car wrapped);I thought there was an engine mount needing replacing, but my mechanic took a look and says the rubber coupling on the prop shaft wants replacing, as there is a mild clunk;Nasty plastic gearknob! Leather ones available on ebay for £10;One or more glow plugs needs replacing as it currently has a lumpy start up. They are £8 each!Front offside window regulator needs changing;Rain water gets in around offside rear light cluster, wetting boot on that side;I have no history with the car, just a pile of old MOTs. The old chap I bought it off had passed the car around his family and his next door neighbours also for years and was insistent on its maintenance. A quick check of the MOT history online will show you it has never had a major failure.
With some sprucing up this could be a solid and dependable car for any enthusiast for years to come. I can’t do what I intended to do so I would rather the car went to a fellow enthusiast, to be enjoyed.
I sold my other car last week on ebay, and it took 3 auction attempts until a genuine buyer actually showed up. Please don’t bid unless you are actually going to buy. It all became very tedious. I do expect this to be different though as the W124 has a unique following.
I have listed this car to the best of my knowledge and tried to detail all the faults so as to be as fair as possible (this is an honest advert, I"m not a dealer and I don"t want hassle, I just want to sell my car). If you have questions please ask them on here to share the answers with other potential buyers in case I have forgotten anything.
07554013807 Contact as soon as you can after you have won. Cash on collection and collect as soon as you can please, I have bought another car and need the space (and tax back!).
Happy bidding.
