vehicle description:

Rover 218 SLD Turbo Diesel 197178 Miles with service history up to 189601 miles.
Cambelt replaced at 189601 miles with receipts to prove.
Genuine service book stamped up to 184681 miles by a garage in Witney Oxfordshire from 1995 to 2010.From there, there are receipts from the same garage up to 189601 miles which includes cambelt replacement in 2013.
I have replaced the engine oil and filter and the fuel filter in June 2015 before using the Rover to pull our caravan for the summer.
Although this little car is old, (maybe the last Rover 218 on the road?) it starts first time, does not smoke or burn oil. It uses the Perkins Commercial 1.8 Turbo Diesel Engine. Not the crap Rover Diesel engine.
It is also the engine found in the Rover 418, some mini diggers, barges, and many other commercial vehicles.
The engine is bomb proof, it pulls really hard and will tow anything and the gearbox is quiet and smooth. The clutch is good as are the brakes. It has electric windows up front which work perfectly and electric mirrors which also work perfectly. Surprise lol.The central locking also works as do all of the lights and towing system electrics.
The Rover was owned by an elderly gentleman before I obtained it and it was definitely a much loved family car with receipts to prove. Including a receipt from 1996 for the sum of £5,250 to purchase the car. It has only had 3 owners one of which is me.
I have used this little Rover for the last 12 months or so as a cheap commuter to and from work, I have towed my motor cross bike trailers with it and our caravan throughout the summer this year.It has never missed a beat, failed to start or broke down once in the last 12 months. I would estimate I have put the best part of 10,000 trouble free miles on the clock in the last 12 months. (Shame I cant say that for the more modern car)
The only thing I have had to replace is the stop solenoid on the diesel pump. This was replaced because the wiring tip had deteriorated and stopped working which stopped the engine from turning off. £30 from diesel engineering shop. The Kenlow Fan (engine cooling fan) is activated by a switch on the dash. When I first obtained the car it had been sat a while and the only fault i could find with it was the engine cooling fan not coming on. This could be fixed by means of a temperature switch. It never bothered me so left it operating from the switch on the dash. The rear windows (manual operation) do not undo? Could just need the runners cleaning or window gently being pushed at the same time as turning the handle.I have never driven from the back seat and the electric windows work in the front so never this bothered me.
The MOT is currently valid until Dec 2015.
Now obviously this Rover is not perfect. It is 23 years old. 23 years of Family use and British weather abuse but all in all, it would continue to make a great cheap commuter/tow car for someone.Or grass track/ banger racer or use the engine as a replacement unit for something else.
As it stands the Rover is road legal until Dec 2015 and if I am honest, it will pass its mot with the rear of the sills plated. The underside of the chassis is solid. It was wax oiled from new by the looks of it and was treated every couple of years.  Makes sense as to why its still on the road lol I"ve not seen another Rover 218 in the year of owning this one lol
There are some small rust issues. The main being the rear of both the sills for the next mot. Very easy fix. Just plate over the top. Thats it. There is rust on the drivers front wing and also rust missing from the wing (shown in pictures taped up) it has passed two MOT"s like this.
The cloth of the roof lining was sagging when I obtained the car so I pulled it out. There is still the sound deadening material and the actual liner just no cloth cover.
All of the tyres are good as is the spare. The suspension works as it should with no knocks or clonks. The stereo works as does the sunroof.
I have two keys, the V5 in my name, current MOT certificate, service records, books and stamps.
I have been as honest as I can and have listed everything I can think of and will happily answer any questions you may have. You are more than welcome to come and test drive, inspect the engine or what ever you feel necessary to your needs.
The only reason I am not welding up the rear of the sills and re mot"ing again for myself is due to obtaining a cheap van, otherwise I would have kept the Rover and just carried on rolling with it.Especially seeing as it returns 80 miles to £10 of diesel at 75mph and 67 miles to £10 of diesel when towing the caravan. Most modern cars can"t touch that.
There is no reserve on the Rover.I will not break the RoverNo overseas bidders. UK ONLYI will not send overseas so do not ask me to.
I can deliver the Rover if you wish at the cost of fuel to and from the delivery address from NN10 Northamptonshire. Both winning bid and fuel delivery monies to be paid in advance of delivery, if delivery is required. At my discretion.
Collection in person preferred.
You are welcome to call me on 07889778204 ask for Albert.
