vehicle description:
Here for sale is my 1994 Jaguar XJ6 3.2 - I bought this car a couple of months ago as a bit of an impulse purchase having always wanted to a try a Jag. The
reason I"m selling so soon is it feels a bit big and soft for my liking
(not sure what I expected) plus I"ve decided I prefer a manual gearbox so I"m keeping my MG ZT instead. My Dad wants to keep it for himself as he loves
driving it, but we don’t have the room & it’s annoyingly slightly too long
for the garage.
It has 116300 miles currently, although that may go up slightly as I’m
still using it occasionally, it has a full service history up to 97000 miles. I
think it’s had an oil change since then, but it could do with a service soon. It
has MOT until Jan 2016. The engine is very nice, lovely 3.2 straight 6 and it
feels pokier than I expected especially given the weight of the car. The gearbox
is a classic old style auto, works as it should, kicks down etc. It comes with 3
sets of keys & 1 remote
The bodywork is decent for the age, there’s age related marks such as
various scratches, some bubbling on the rear arches and a small amount of rust
on one of the front wings and the sunroof, a couple of tiny spots of lacquer
peel and a bit of rust on the sunroof and front wing. Generally seems solid
though. The interior is in reasonable condition and is very comfortable although
the AC isn"t up to much, seems to blow cool, rather than cold. It probably just
need regassing, but for the sake of the listing, just assume it"s not working.
The clock doesn"t work. The headlining in the rear is also sagging. Please note
that due to being an early X300, it doesn"t have a glovebox. The bolsters are
slightly worn but no holes. Driver"s side key barrel doesn"t seem to work.
All 4 tyres have decent tread and even wear, although the fronts have some
age related cracks so could do with replacing at some point, the wheels
themselves are in good condition. The suspension seems a bit tired, there’s a
small clonk from the rear nearside and it doesn’t absorb the bigger potholes too
well. A mechanic drove it and said it was fundamentally ok but probably needed a
couple of new shocks. Both exhaust manifolds have cracks in them which is
apparently a very common X300 problem, it doesn"t effect how the car drives but
it occasionally makes a strange noise. Most people I"ve asked about it have said
welding it up tends to work quite well which is probably what I’d do if I wasn"t
selling it. The brakes are good and feel very strong.
It has a private plate - BRZ 2387, might be worth something to a Subaru BRZ
owner if you fancied selling it and going back to the original reg.
Overall, it’s a hell of a lot of car for the money and it turns a lot of
heads - it"s a lovely car and keenly priced, it needs a bit of attention with the suspension and manifold but drives fine as is; for
its age it’s in decent condition and it’s obviously been well taken care of
throughout its life. Any questions, either email me at georgehopkins1@gmail.com, message through eBay or call/text on
