“AJ16 Engine is Bulletproof and 100% Reliable. No Overheating or Fluid Leaks. Purrs like a big Jag should. Gearbox is good and gear changes are smooth and effortless. New Diff fitted in 2011. Good tyres. Bodywork needs TLC: rear arches are corroded, bottom of boot lid, bottom of front wings, a few spots on bottom of doors and the roof paint has grazed. Front bumper scuffed on corner. Headlining is sagging and LCD clock has faded (common X300 issues). Ideal cheap Jag to smoke around in. Does a genuine 30mpg on s steady run.”

A reliable example of the X300 XJ Sport.  Bodywork needs TLC, but perfectly useable as it is and still gets plenty of admiring glances.
Specification includes: Automatic J-Gate Gearbox, Full Oatmeal Sports Leather, Electric Front Seats, Birds Eye Maple Wood Trim, Electric Windows x 4, Electric Door Mirrors, Climate Control, Premium Sound System, CD Changer in Boot, Multi Function Steering Wheel, Trip Computer, 16 Dimple Sport Alloy Wheels, Remote Central Locking, Alarm & Immobiliser, etc.

The engine is mechanically spot on - always starts first turn of the key with no hesitation. Idles in the correct manner. Temperature sits at half way all day long. Uses no excess oil or coolant. No fluid leaks. The car does not miss a beat.  Will need a couple of anti-roll bar links, due to knocking over potholes.  Blow on exhaust.  MOT until end of March 2016 (will at least require front brake flexi hoses for MOT).
On a steady run, will easily return over 30mpg.  22mpg around town, which is reasonable for a big old cat.
This Jag has been well-looked after by the previous owner, who had the car for 14 years.  He was a retired Jaguar engineer, and did all servicing and maintenance himself at home.  He had a diff fitted in 2011 at a cost of £700.  I believe this is infact an XJR diff, as it lowers the RPM at higher speeds (I"ve had several of these over the years, and from experience these usually do 70mph at 3K RPM.  This does 90mph at 3K RPM).  Makes it slightly more economical.

Everything works as it should and there are currently no warning lights on the dashboard.
Interior is all solid and in one piece, but would benefit from a deep clean.  Driver"s seat side bolster is worn.  They have the usual wear and tear marks, but no major rips or tears,  Rear bench seat has got quite a few marks and cracks, so ideally could benefit from being replaced (around £50 from an eBay breaker).  Centre arm rest has a patch missing.  LCD Clock not working and Headlining is sagging (common X300 traits).  Seats are very supportive and comfortable, making it an ideal long distance cruiser.
The bodywork has seen better days to be honest.  Both rear arches have corrosion (although I have seen worse).  Bottom of front wings, rear boot lid and the bottom of a few of the doors also have corrosion.  The bonnet and roof have grazing in the paintwork.  Front bumper has a scuff on offside corner.  Cleans up well and still looks very presentable from a distance.  Perfectly useable classic Jag.  Can be used as is, or spend a few hundred pounds and get the bodywork sorted.  You will then have a very good example of an X300 XJ Sport (not many of these left now, and the good ones are beginning to creep up in value!).
