“Absolutely superb Norfolk Mustard yellow paintwork with graphite grey leather interior with yellow piping. Desirable factory optional Nardi steering wheel. Full service history, old MOT's and just 3 previous owners from new. £15k in receipts for work completed. £11k of this work was done in the last 12000 miles. This includes engine overhaul 18 months ago with new cambelt and waterpump. Negatives are very minor and consists of a cracking door weatherstrips (brand new ones supplied) and an intermitant pop-up headlight unit. It worked well prior to storage so it can't be much.”

1995 Lotus ELAN M100 S2 TURBO.  LIMITED EDITION NUMBER 513 WITH CERTIFICATE FROM Lotus CARS LTD.
BEAUTIFUL NORFOLK MUSTARD YELLOW PAINTWORK WITH GRAPHITE GREY LEATHER INTERIOR WITH YELLOW PIPING.  RARE AND DESIRABLE FACTORY FITTED NARDI STEERING WHEEL OPTION.
Only 97k miles from new with just 3 previous owners.  Current registered keeper last 5 years.  Comprehensive service history from day one.  All Lotus specialists.  Supplied new by SGT in Maidenhead  and maintained by them until 50000 miles.  Then looked after by highly regarded Lotus experts Steve Williams Sports cars and lately South West Lotus Centre Ltd.  Last owner was an elderly gentlemen and I think let his heart rule his head (or wallet) when it came to the Lotus.  He spent over £11000 in maintaining the car and everything needed was done.  This includes a full top end engine overhaul just 5000 miles ago at a cost of over £2000 (new cambelt and waterpump fitted) plus a brand new performance clutch just 12000 miles ago.  This is additional to a new alloy radiator, full stainless steel exhaust, rebuilt rear brake calipers, uprated braided brake hoses, new brakes, Alternator and much more.  All this work was completed in the last 3 years/12000 miles.  I have receipts for everything plus additional receipts for work completed previously.  The car also comes with a stamped Lotus service history, old MOT"s, original handbooks plus promotional literature for the S2. 
 
Exterior Condition
The condition of the bodywork really is superb for the year.  The Norfolk Mustard yellow paintwork gleams and still looks almost factory fresh.  I"m not normally one for yellow cars but on a Lotus it just looks so right.  There is none of the usual fibreglass crazing or cracking associated with these cars and no lacquer peel at all.  In fact, there are hardly even any stonechips.
The hood looks great with just minor wear and no tears or marks.  All hood seals are very good and the windscreen pillar seals are brand new.  The only minor negative is the door weatherstrips have started to crack with age.  I"m including a brand new pair with the sale and these just need fitting.  I just haven"t had the time to do it myself but can advise how the job should be done.
The 16 BBS factory fitted S2 wheels are in very good condition and were recently refurbished.  Rear lights are crack free.
Interior Condition
It came out of the factory with the Graphite grey leather with yellow piping option and still looks great.  Just minor wear to the seats but no rips or anything similar.  Carpets are all pretty much unworn and everything works.  This includes all instruments/dials and the electric windows both work well.  A rather nice Nardi leather steering wheel was fitted as an optional extra by Lotus when new.  
A rather nice face-off CD/MP3 player is fitted.   Just valeted so its all absolutely spotless.  Its also leak free and completely dry inside.
Driving
Its a very low mileage car for year with just 97k miles.   The engine and gearbox all both excellent and the turbo operates as it should.  No nasty noises and always starts first time every time and doesn"t overheat.  The gearbox is great as well with no crunching.  You can see by the service history that the maintenance has always being done on time and you can tell.  The uprated clutch takes a short time to get use to as its less progressive than the standard type but works well. Handling is excellent as you would expect.  Brakes are uprated with braided hoses, cross drilled/vented discs and green stuff brake pads.  I have only covered 300 miles in the car in the last 6 months and not used it at all for a few months.  I took it out last week and the brakes didn"t feel great but I seem to remember this being the norm.  It passed the MOT fine and I"m advised by various experts the brakes are an M100 weak spot.  The handbrake is very good (calipers refurbished).
 
Finally, it sounds great (but not loud) as well thanks to a new Piper stainless steel exhaust system.
Negatives
The door weatherstrips as mentioned earlier but brand new replacements supplied.   I"m struggling to think of much else.  The passenger front headlamp pod is intermitant popping up and down.  The motor is fine and it was fine prior to storage and for the MOT.  I think it just needs lubrication.  For any car and particularly a Lotus ELAN these negatives are really tiny.  The vast majority of these cars advertised will need far more attention as they can be fragile and are expensive to maintain.   I have only completed 300 miles since the MOT and the car was comprehensively serviced 4000 miles ago.  
Everything else
Reason for sale is I bought on an impulse but have a classic Porsche and Lotus 7 replica already plus another project.  Garage space is limited but if I had the storage I would definitely keep it.  Its a lovely car and a rare one particularly in this sort of condition coupled with comprehensive history and a low number of owners.  Unlike the majority of these cars for sale it really does need no expensive maintenance or repairs doing.  Comes with 2 sets of keys.   
This is a private sale and I have described the car honestly but you are welcome and encouraged to view the car prior to auction end.  To my mind, I would be proud to show the car to anyone so I hope that demonstrates my opinion of the overall condition.  I have also included lots of pictures so you can judge it for yourselves.
