“An oil leak started recently which coincided with the upside down Y warning light coming on. There is no puffing from the oil filler, no black, blue, or white, smoke from the exhaust and the engine performs normally. A Volvo expert thinks it is a blown crankshaft oil seal at the gearbox end caused by a blocked crankcase breather. The mileage recorder (but not the speedo) stopped at 163,000 miles. I first owned this car about four years ago and used it for a couple of years.  My brother was the next owner and he used it for perhaps one year.  I then bought the car back from him and have used it ever since.  An oil leak started recently which coincided with the upside down Y warning light coming on.  There is no smoke from the oil filler and no black, blue, or white, smoke from the exhaust and the engine performs normally. A Volvo expert thinks the oil leak is from a blown crankshaft oil seal at the gearbox end caused by a blocked crankcase breather.  The mileage recorder (but not the speedo) stopped at 163,000 miles.  Current mileage is estimated at 170,000.  Exceptionally sound body for year.  Interior is good without rips in the cloth upholstery.  The car drives well and is very comfortable.  The brakes had an overall quite recently and the rear tyres are nearly new.  MOT until 03/16.  Volvo service history up to 74,000 miles and other service history up to 94,000 miles.  It has been regularly serviced during the last 36,000 miles.  This car has an enormous amount of room.  For instance, last week it carried eight high back dining chairs all at the same time and I could still fully close the tailgate.  It also has a very good turning circle which makes it surprisingly agile in confined spaces.  The car is certainly much too good to scrap and I am sure that many home mechanics would agree.
