vehicle description:
For sale is my much loved 1997 SubaruIMPREZA sport 2.0l with 110,600 Miles on the clock, it’s a very reliable car
and very well looked after no expense spared!
I got this car from a Subaru dealer who was
selling it privately in Dulverton, before I got the car he said the timing belt
was changed at around 65,000 miles and the car has a pretty good service log
from main dealers.
I have owned this car for just over a year
and have done a lot of preventative maintenance to it in that time to keep it
driving and feeling how it should!
Within the first month of owning the car I
jacked it up and removed the exhaust, heat shields, etc and cleaned the
underside then wax-oiled it, there was no welding needed, this car is really
good condition on the underside, but being the fussy bugger that I am, all
small rust spots have been ground back and then treated with rust killer.
On the first service I replaced both drive
belts (Alternator and A/C), fuel filter, spark plugs, antifreeze, all oils, air
filter and I also did a compression test on the engine just for piece of mind
and to get an insight into the history of the engine.
Since I have owned the car I have given the
Engine/Gearbox/Diff regular oil changes every 6 months with very high quality
oils, no expense spared. The first service I did on the engine when I got it I
really went to town, I used a product called engine flush to remove all sludge
from the internals and then once the oil was drained I also removed the sump
and cleaned it out by hand to remove every little bit of sludge! When the sump
was reinstalled I used a new cork gasket and also replaced the standard oil
bung with an aftermarket one with a magnet to attract any metal swarf.
After completing the work above the engine
oil now stays clear for around 4-5 months after a service then starts to go a
little gray. Every service since I have also used engine flush for this reason!
One upgrade I did was replacing the front
brakes for the STI type 4 pot calipers, to do this upgrade I needed to get
bigger wheels to accommodate the bigger disks and calipers so I got some gold
STI 16” wheels which suit the car great, with a new set of tyres, still loads
of tread all around!
When I did this upgrade the calipers were
brand new and I painted them red with the white “WRX PRO” lettering, while
replacing the front calipers I took this opportunity to completely drain the
brake fluid out of the system and replace the flexible brake lines on the front
and rear of the car for HEL performance brake lines then refilled the system
with a performance brake fluid called super DOT 4.
Recently I have changed the front near side
drive shaft and wheel bearing, I did buy them as a pair so I also have a spare
front drive shaft and wheel bearing included in the sale.
Spares included in the sale:
New front drive shaft
New front wheel bearing
Old single pot calipers, smaller disks,
original flexible brake lines
Original 15” wheels with tyres (Alloys are
in great condition, tyres are average condition)
Side skirts and rear bumper spats (great
condition)
This car has never let me down and I have
always had lots of fun driving it, going from a Corsa “c” to this car was
possibly the best move I have ever done! The AWD system is said to be one of
the best in the world combined with the flat 4 Engine that lowers the center of
gravity meaning it really grips in the corners. You might be surprised when I
say it was actually more economical than my little 998cc Corsa “c” too! Mostly because I had to thrash the living day
light out of it to get up these hills in Pembrokeshire where as with theSubaru’s torque and AWD system it just cruises up them no bother!
I am truly gutted to see it go but due to
work commitments I have to move away and I have nowhere to keep her when I’m
gone.
Forgot to mention that everything in the
car works, as it should. The interior is all standard and really good condition
I have just had this car professionally
valeted inside and out which cost me £145.00, I will also include a full tank
of fuel £45.00
!!!BAD POINTS!!!
Small rust blisters just started to appear
where the boot lid sits
I cut two very small holes in the front
bumper for spotlight mounts (Easily filled/repaired)
Front bumper has a few small scuffs on the
corners from previous owners
I think one of the rear shocks is on the
way out (slight knocking occasionally, still drives great and you barely notice it)
Note:
This car was destined to be a road rally car,
hens the front mounting for spot lights. As an extra I can also include pretty
much everything you will need to complete this as a road rally car, all the
stuff I have bought is quality and cost me a lot, the only thing I have not got
is a roll cage, everything els I have! And most of the stuff has already been
modified to suit the car, so will just bolt on!
