vehicle description:

Where to start.....Okay so I"m reluctantly selling my CHIMAERA...I say reluctantly because it"s now a very sorted car and I"ve spent 7k on it in the last year. Essentially though it"s because I want a Cerbera.
I bought her from a guy in Wolverhampton about a year ago and he had carried out a respray to a very good standard in dark metallic blue... Only because the original colour was a flat blue not due to any damage, the car is clear. There are a few small marks here and there now but very minor. He also changed the calipers, discs and pads front and back and they are still extremely good. Aside from this the car required some attention and I"ve carried out the following mostly in the last 6 months:
This list is not exhaustive!
Engine
New camshaft, complete with followers, vernier timing chain, oil pump gears, valley gasket.Engine clean including sumpInjectors sent away for reconditioningNew fuel filterNew aluminium rad and blue silicon hose setNew water pump, otter switch, thermostat and coolantManifolds removed, cut and weld 4-1"s. Remove pre-cats and new manifold gaskets.New OE dizzy cap and rotor armNew plugs, leads, ignition module and coilNew plug extenders to rear plugs and insulating boots to allNew air flow meter (OE spare)Oil changed 5 times this year due to various worksNew Clutch slave and master cylinders including fluid changeNew fuel hosesNew rollover valveNew gearbox and diff oilACT filter to plenum air intake kitNew serp drive beltNew vacuum advance tubeAll mechanical works by TVR specialist.
Inside
New dark blue carpets with biscuit trim throughout supplied by D&C trimRe-colour of leather to original biscuitNew aluminium dash and radio plateNew stereoNew potentiometer for wiper controlNew fan switch and control unitNew leather blue door cards (far better and smarter than bits of carpet)New door and targa sealsOutside16 Imolas all round with good bridgestonesFull respray 2 years agoAlarm
Yes lots of them have the hot start issue as mine did, there is a cheap and temporary relay fix... I went for the proper Carl Baker alarm/immobiliser with two key fobs and remote boot access at £600! No more issues since. Anyone who knows of Carl will know that when carries this out he checks the wiring generally and discards anything surplus...a real bonus!
Tuning
I have just taken her to Joolz at kits and classics for a tune and she"s putting out 235bhp at the fly and 190bhp at the wheels....very good for a 400 and in real conditions will arguably be putting out over TVR figures. The engine is seriously strong and it goes to show what can be achieved when you properly sort these cars. Not much can live with her in real world terms and the torque in 3rd and 4th is fantastic.
The chassis has been well coated in layers of wax oil but had layers of under seal on the outriggers which has been scraped off, treated and painted. There are no holes or serious corrosion that anyone can find anywhere when on a ramp and the outriggers should be ok for some while (however there was surface rust as nearly all will have at 20 years old unless renewed) I would therefore have changed the outriggers in a couple of years if I was to keep her.
Hood and targa are ok, rear window quite clear and no tears. Both wing mirrors don"t work electrically..been told it"s an easy fix but not got round to it yet.
Not many CHIMAERAs come up for sale this reliable and with this much work carried out in such a short space of time and this will be a great car for someone. Yes I use it daily and it"s totally reliable! Oil pressure spot on and I"ve noticed no oil consumption. It also cools perfectly.
IF ANYONE HAS AN AJP CERBERA 4.2 or 4.5 AND IS LOOKING TO GO BACK TO OPEN TOP MOTORING WITH A WONDERFUL OLD SCHOOL V8 BURBLE THEN I WOULD SERIOUSLY CONSIDER AN EXCHANGE...SENSIBLE MONEY EITHER WAY.
Just had its MOT with no advisories!
