For sale is this low-mileage (just 56,000 from new) example of the top-of-the-range Mazda XEDOS 6, complete with four-speed automatic transmission. This is now a rare car by modern-classic standards, and has been in the hands of one elderly owner for most of its life.
I bought the Mazda just under a year ago from the son of its deceased owner. His father had owned the Mazda since March 1999, buying it when it was just seven months old. It remained with him until his death last year, and in recent times was covering just a few hundred miles a year.
This XEDOS 6 comes complete with a A4 folder full of invoices and receipts for maintenance work carried out over the years, as well as its original handbook and service book (all stamped up) in its immaculate leather folder. I last had the car serviced in June 2015 (when it passed its MoT), at 53,682 miles. The current MoT expires in July 2016, and the only advisories on the last test was slight deterioration to the CV gaiters (though not enough to prevent them doing their job).
For anyone who has never driven a 2.0-litre XEDOS 6, the performance will be a surprise. With 146bhp from its V6, it"s a genuinely quick car - and the engine sounds fantastic. The four-speed automatic transmission works perfectly, and in kickdown helps with quick overtaking. This is a very impressive "compact exec" with fantastic acceleration, and yet it"s also pretty economical (I"ve been averaging around the 30mph mark).
During the (almost) one year that I"ve owned it, absolutely nothing has gone wrong with the XEDOS 6. It"s a brilliant starter in all weathers, and has been utterly reliable. No warning lights, no issues, no problems at all. My only expenditure has been a service and an MoT.
The full-leather interior is in excellent condition (no wear to the seats), and the car comes well-equipped - with a list that includes electric windows, air conditioning, electric seats, etc.   It would have cost the best part of £22k when new, and it shows.
It"s a very presentable (and rust-free) example of the XEDOS 6, but comes with some paintwork scrapes to the front bumper (see Pic 12). I"m guessing that the previous owner wasn"t great when judging how close he was to his gate! There"s the odd paintwork mark that you"d expect after almost 18 years, but nothing major.
There aren"t many XEDOS 6 models for sale at present, and even fewer that have such a low mileage and impressive history.
NB:  The car will remain my daily driver until January 18th (unless it sells beforehand), as that"s the day when I have a lease car arriving; the mileage will therefore increase slightly.
