TVR Chimaera the rarer 450 4.6 engine regarded as the best one to have.
I spent 7 months looking for this car and looked at 13 other cars before this one.
It has a full TVR specialist history with 17 stamps in the book (book now full) I think there must be every invoice since new with the car including the original bill for sale for £37,000 and over £12,000 in bills.
In June I had a 12k service carried out at a TVR specialist which includes all fluid"s being changed, Engine gearbox diff clutch brake anti freeze and power steering and of course all the required filters to.
I"ve done just under 1000 miles since June and have carried out a extra oil and filter change this week using Valvoline VR1 oil as recommended by Lloyds racing who race build the rover V8 engine.
While looking for a good car my list grew as what to look out for fault wise.
The all important chassis is all good, I spent 2 days scraping off under seal just to see exactly how it was looking then cleaned and painted the outriggers in Hammerite  this way I thought I could see what was happening.
The windscreen is a genuine TVR screen and is not showing any whiteness around the edges.
Electric"s are all working the windows go up and down without needing any help and at a normal speed central locking is working and comes with a spare key and fob.
Tyres 3 are toyos proxy"s did half 4 but a puncture put end to that.
Engine does not smoke and has good oil pressure when hot.
Fans work as they should kicking in and out.
No hot start problems either.
Interior is all good for the age with just a little wear to the drivers side not holed or ripped nothing you wouldn"t expect, Carpets are all good with no water or damp damage.
The drive is as you would expect breath taking performance and the sound well it just sounds brilliant.
I"ve had a lot of performance cars over the years and this has to be the best yet you don"t even have to be going fast. The note of the engine at around 1500 revs just gurgles.
It manages to give the sensation that you"re travelling a lot faster than you actually are it"s a very focused drivers car with no electronic driver aids.
But if you"re looking for a TVR you know all this already.
The only down side of the car is it was categorised C damaged last year with light front damage, I have photos of the damage if you would like to see which was just fibreglass damage.
Ideally when looking I didn"t want a Cat c or d car myself but it just happened to be the best at the time also it"s a good  450 for 400 money was a no brainer for me.
Looking around good 450,s are up to 15k mark at the moment so at under 10k I think it"s fairly priced.
Its insured with footman and James on a classic policy with an agreed value of 12k
On the plus side the front end was painted last year so its not plastered in stone chips and the colour match is perfect. The colour was an £800 option when new its a pearl blue witch cant really be seen in the photos.
If you"re looking for a garage queen just to invest in and polish maybe it"s not for you.
But if it"s a car that you want to get out and drive that"s ready to use it could be for you.
