Me and my girlfriend have owned this car since December 2009. It has served us really well, and despite going through the MOT one year ago with no advisories, this time we have decided to not put it through. It expires on Thursday 30th October, and I have attached a photo of the certificate so you can see what it has failed on:
001 Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle excessive [7.3.D.3]
007 Nearside upper Front suspension ball joint dust cover excessively damaged so that it no longer prevents the ingress of dirt [2.4.G.2]
008 Rear (hanger insecure) Exhaust system not adequately supported [7.1.1]
We have done the other jobs already so these are the only things needed for an MOT pass. Points 7 and 8 could be resolved for minimal spend, but to sort out the emissions it most likely needs a new rear cat.
The cars engine is still smooth despite covering 149k, still responsive and still nice to drive! Electric windows, climate control and heated seats still work fine and it has the original 17" supersport alloys which would look great refurbed.
I will be very frank, the car has seen better days, there are scratches here and there on the body work.  At some point it must have had a new front bumper as paint has started to peel on the edges. I have photographed the worst parts of the bodywork, a scratch above the rear wheel arch, and some paint peeling on the bonnet. The front suspension is a little noisy over bumps, but not enough to fail mot. The drivers door handle hinge is broken but handle still operates okay.
From a distance the car still looks good, great shape and moves well. But whether the car would be better for spares I will leave that up to you... I have been very honest about the description.
MOT runs out on Thursday and tax on 31st so pick up would need to happen on Thursday.
