As a Saab fan I bought the car as a stop gap when I was made
redundant in Jan 2013 and lost the use of my company car. Despite getting fixed up with a new job and car
in July the same year I kept the Saab as a weekend car as it is just so nice to
look at and drive. When the turbo gave
up the ghost in August last year I couldn’t bear to scrap it so had the work
carried out by Westbury Saab in Shrewsbury, a former official Saab dealership
and now the leading local specialist.
The intention was to carry out a refurb of the car and keep it going
forward. Realistically I am too busy with other projects, work and family to
ever have the time to get it done and since it’s only done around 3,000 miles
in the last 12 months it’s time to let it go.
The car drives lovely, better at motorway cruising than
cross country A and B roads. On a
motorway run it’ll achieve 35 mpg. There
are one or two little niggles that you’d expect with a 13 year old car but
starts and runs with no issues and but for having company vehicles I’d happy
use the 9-5 as my day to day transport.
This is a very reluctant sale and so I’m looking to sell to
another Saab fan who’ll be interested in keeping the car and hopefully continue
to bring it back to its full glory. Speaking of Saab enthusiasts I’m willing to
discuss the idea of a part exchange or straight swap for a 9-3 Coupe or Convertible
preferably the Aero or Anniversary versions.
The previous owner didn’t really treat it as it should have
been so this is the summary of the work completed since I got the 9-5.
26/02/13 – at 81,220
miles. Full Service, replacement of brake fluid and anti freeze and one OSR
tyre.
04/04/13 – at 81,946 miles . Replacement of rear beam bushes
28/11/13 - at 85,969
miles. Replacement of turbo with new unit. New brake discs and pads on rear.
02/04/14 – at 87,171 miles. Replacement of OSR brake
calliper
19/12/14 – at 89,588 miles. Repaired turbo bypass valve
connector and wash fluid sensor
I have receipts for all the above work everything from the
replacement turbo onwards was carried out by Westbury Saab of Shrewsbury the
main service agent plus a major service and a new tyre.
I have receipts for all the works carried out plus a
completed service book showing servicing by Lytham St Ann’s Saab up to April
2006 and 50,000 miles.
Cosmetically the body is not too bad. No major panel damage at all just some
superficial scratches and little dings, and no rust. Were I keeping the car I’d have a smart
repairer put things right quite reasonably.
The alloys do need some TLC and a perfectionist might be tempted to
source another set although the set fitted do look good.
Because of the work that’s been done particularly the new
turbo I’m looking for around £1250 for the car.
