vehicle description:

For sale is my dear IMPREZA.
I am a second owner, bought the car when it was 3 years old with something like 25K on the clock. It now has done 140K ultra reliable and fun miles.
Wanted to keep her as my winter car, but storage, commitments, and no time to bring her to perfection.
I have lots of parts for her, some fitted, some in the boot.
There are good things about her:
super reliable, fun and cheap to insure economical (compared to turbo) years back I fitted a rear anti roll bar off a turbo, so handles like a dream (this modification does not affect my insurance, but do double check) sailed through the MOT which will expire on 23rd Dec 2015 new CATs (both) new OEM quality Lambda sond (Bosch) new rear box (off a turbo, so sweet big bore dual pipes) new exhaust bolts and gaskets all round just changed oil (Miller Trident synthetic 5w30 A3/B4) new oil filter (of course) two sets of alloys: summer Toyos (marginal) and winter Yokohamas (will give you 1000s of miles of service) ... and there are bad things about her:
clutch will need doing soon (not slipping in normal driving yet, but hesitant when you do full throttle drop rally shifts) timing belt needs doing now (included, together with the new water pump) rocker cover seals need refreshing (not critical, I have been driving like this for years, included) aircon belt snapped due to the stuck tensioner bearing, and since I never use aircon I never got round to fixing it will need a new battery some of the rear wheel bearings are getting noisy (very much driveable for 1000s of miles as is, and these cars are not known for their quiet manners anyway) there is a hole above the rear arch (see pic, easy fix) bumper scratched and flaking off (full paint set supplied, see below) Let me just explain the bumper saga: poor workmanship. Wife spun her on icy road somewhere in the mountains of Europe about 8 years back, and clipped plastic bumpers on the snow piled on both sides of the road. No structural damage whatsoever, and we got the car fixed on insurance, with new rear bumper, new anti-fog headlaps front, and other minor parts. So there we are, someone was not very good at spraying plastic.
Included in the price is a complete spray set with:
plastic primer thinners two pack colour paint clearcoat This can be painted in no time.
Since I started talking about the price, let me give you a breakdown of what I think the fair value is, which is locked mainly in the new parts I am including in the sale:
+80 - scrap value of a car +100 - value of the two sets of alloys +100 - two new cats +70 - new exhaust pipe +50 - new rear box +70 - new Lambda +30 - oil seals +5 - oil filter +20 - new oil +50 - Subaru orig timing belt +10 - auxiliary belt (alternator) +50 - water pump +100 - complete paint set +30 - charges for fitting the exhaust Sub total (+): 765
-17 - new clutch (yes, 17 GBP, no kidding: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-IMPREZA-Forester-Legacy-2-0-2-2-or-2-5-n-a-LUK-Clutch-Disc-EJ20-EJ22-EJ25-/191550172821?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2c9947ae95) LUK is a great brand, and I checked with the dealer that it is a single mass flywheel -70 - new battery -70 - ramp use for fitting the clutch (I do all my servicing at Ramp It Up in Bristol, you just hire a ramp with all the tools and have lots of fun) -80 - two of the rear wheel bearings (optional, but I thought I"d include them here) Sub total (-): 237
Final book value: 528
Lets include the depreciation on parts and cover your hassle (or fun, depending on the point of view) at 15%. So I am listing her at 448.
10% of the final selling price will go to Tia Greyhound & Lurcher Rescue (one of ebay affiliated charities, because my three Salukis loved this car so much ;)
At the end you will get a car which is reliable, with the majority of critical components renewed, and you will also get to know her propery, to trust her as much as I did.
Happy bidding and hopefully happy driving.
As a side note: there are a couple on Autotrader listed as 1300, there are also a couple on ebay, listed between 600 and a 1000, which I frankly think is way too much. But neither is she scrap. It would be a shame.
