2002 MG ZT 180+ Auto LPG
This is a good basic car, with a brand new MOT, which needs some work by a suitably skilled person with appropriate knowledge and facilities.
This car was registered on 04 July 2002, and has had 4 owners including me.
I acquired it in June 2010 when the mileage was 74,500.
The V5C is registered to me at my Office Address in KT5, but it resides in HP3.
It is currently on SORN, so a Road Test is not prudent, as it doesn’t have an MOT or Road Tax on it, so even if you are insured, it would be illegal to drive it on the road.
It was in daily use until 30 March (when the old MOT expired), and has generally been a joy to drive. It has been reliable, except for the very occasional / intermittent overheating problem (see below). Although it now has a brand new MOT, I won"t be putting any more miles on it before it sells.
I took it on a 2,500 mile drive to Southern Spain a few years ago, with no issues whatsoever.
I have had no material accidents in it, save for a front end, near side low speed collision with a pavement bollard nearly a year ago, which caused me to replace the whole front fender assembly with a dark grey one (almost imperceptible - see pic).
The BRC Sequent56 LPG conversion was professionally fitted in December 2007 at 26,461 miles, with a toroidal tank where the spare wheel normally goes. It is currently not switching over to Gas on demand, but that should be easy to fix by a competent and skilled Technician.
I am sorry to see this car go, but it is taking up space on the drive which is now needed for something else, and the modest MOT failure (see below) has made this decision a little easier.
Please read carefully the information provided below, which is accurate and given in good faith, so that you can make a sensible, fact-based decision.
THANKS FOR LOOKING, AND I WILL ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE.
Mileage : 101,868
External Colour : Royal Blue, Paint Code JFM (see pics)
Internal Colour : Dark Blue Leather / Light Grey Alcantara suede (see pics)
MOT
It now has a brand new MOT, which runs out on 14 December 2017
There are two advisories 1) "Wiper marks / light scratching on on windscreen", and 2) Coolant Leak
BODY
It must be said that whilst there is no real ‘damage’, there are several blemishes, scratches, etc. on nearly all panels. Please see the pics. Further pics can be provided on request. There are no obvious signs of any material external rust.
ENGINE
In spite of the mileage, it starts on the button, runs very sweetly, and sounds just as it should.
There is an intermittent coolant system problem which shows itself occasionally. The standard plastic Thermostat assembly (well known to be problematic on MG Rover V6 engines) was replaced relatively recently, so it is most likely not this. The engine starts and runs so well, that it is considered not to be a head gasket problem. Again, it needs someone with relevant knowledge and facilities to investigate and fix this condition, as appropriate.
Careful note should be taken of the fact that as far as I know, and certainly whilst in my possession, the Cambelts have NEVER been replaced, although there is no current evidence of this yet being an issue, despite the higher than recommended mileage.
AUTO GEARBOX
The Auto box changes up and down fine, and is smooth in operation. I have never had a problem with it.
OTHER POINTS TO NOTE
The Wheels are variously pitted as is usual with these alloys, however all of the Tyres are matching Pirelli Cinturato P7 225/45 R18 Run Flats. Reasonable treads all round, which should last for a good few miles yet.
The climate control system works fine, BUT the Air Conditioning was charged last Summer, and it worked fine for a few months, but it is no longer getting cold, so I suspect a leak somewhere in the pipework.
The Seats are in generally reasonable condition, with a few stains here and there, but the Driver’s seat has a little chafing on the right hand side (see pic).
There is One Key, which also operates the central locking / alarm system.
The Driver’s door only does not unlock when the central locking mechanism is triggered, but it does lock along with all the other locks when the button is pressed..
PAPERWORK / SERVICE HISTORY
There is a sporadic Service History, which becomes increasingly less complete in more recent years. There are also several MOT certificates.
AUDIO
There is NO Radio currently fitted, although the original wiring and speakers are all in place and working.
