vehicle description:

BM03CAB BMW 330ci ConvertibleBMW 330ci SE Convertible with Sports Options, 5-Speed Manual gearbox We’ve owned this outstanding car from new. We bought it after we retired - it followed a series of BMWs, Jaguar and other company cars. It has quite definitely been the best car we have ever had. It is with some regret and many second thoughts that we have now replaced it with something new. Although it is still a reliable travelling friend we need to find it a new owner. Apart from very few miles it has always been driven by me or my wife or we have been in the car if someone else driving. The vehicle is “Grey-Green Metallic” colour with a navy blue roof – it is a colour combination that we think works well and it makes it distinctive on the road. It also comes with the current personalised registration BM03CAB (short for BMW/3-Series/Cabriolet). Whether “pootling” lazily along a country / mountain road, cruising effortlessly at the legal limit along a continental motorway, (or occasionally scarily quickly, but rock steadily on an autobahn!) or needing the awesome overtaking acceleration capability, this car is always an immense pleasure to drive and epitomises the BMW “Ultimate Driving Machine” tag. The 6-cylinder 3 litre petrol engine is always smooth and very flexible. The car has always been garaged and regularly serviced and maintained – almost all servicing other than tyres or MOTs to date has been at a BMW main dealer latterly taking advantage of the BMW older vehicle parts and labour discounts. The current MOT is valid until 21/3/2015. The last service was a major “Inspection II” in May 2014 – 9325 miles now before the next service is due. The car has all the standard features of the high SE spec of the time such as ABS brakes, rear parking distance sensors, central locking, multi-function leather steering wheel, various traction/stability controls, front and side airbags, auto-dimming interior mirror and automatic rain sensor wipers, front fog lights and many more. In addition the factory options fitted are:- ·        Leather upholstery ·        Front seat heating with 3 intensity levels set individually for each seat ·        Sports Seats which give a more wrap-around design (warmer and more supportive) ·        The removable wind deflector which does a very good job of preventing the normal convertible back draught. The deflector has a zipped storage bag which fits on the floor of the boot. ·        Sports Suspension for a firmer, less rolling ride. ·        Electric folding exterior mirrors ·        Graduated tint front windscreen ·        Myrtle Wood trim After purchase we had the removable tow bar and electrics professionally fitted. As you can see from the photos, when not in place the tow bar mounting is unobtrusive but it can be fitted very quickly. We had the tow bar fitting in order to accommodate the extra boot space box you can see in the pictures which is included in this sale. We used this to carry bulky items like clothes and bedding when going on holiday as a roof box is not really possible (and would be fuel inefficient) and so that we could still lower the roof en route. The box and support frame was original supplied by “Drop-On Box” but I don’t think the firm still exists. The support frame literally drops onto the tow ball and a stabilising fitting clamped to the swan neck tow bar – it actually has worked remarkably well! The tow bar box has been used for an average of 2000 miles per annum and a maximum of 500 miles in total towing a small caravan. After a few years we replaced the factory radio / CD multi-changer with an Alpine radio with a USB / iPhone / iPod interface in the glovebox. The Alpine is able to control the iPxx music playing. A semi-tailored rugged rear seat cover is also included – useful for our dog and carrying large items on the rear seat.   You can see some video taken this week of the main electric functions ie roof, windows, mirrors below (if the YouTube video doesn’t appear on a mobile device just go to this link YouTubeVideo Additional photographs of various aspects of the car are available here.... Exterior Interior Roof and Add-on Box Wheels and Tyres Known Issues   Condition Summary All mechanical items – engine, gearbox, transmission, suspension etc have no known faults whatsoever. The car still drives and feels very “tight” and as it always has been which is a credit to the build quality of these vehicles after nearly 97,000 miles. On long runs we normally record fuel consumption of 29+mpg. Advisories at the last MOT have been addressed where necessary. The multi-layer electric soft-top is sound and undamaged. It doesn’t leak or allow draughts (except when down!). It is also very quiet inside when driving. The glass heated rear window is working and obviously not prone to the problems of Perspex windows. The roof can be operated using the switch on the dashboard or using the driver’s door key – which is handy if the interior of the car is very hot after being parked in the sun. The road tyres (see extra photos of treads) have around 4mm on the Michelin rears (replaced at 91,000 miles) and 3mm on the Continental fronts (replaced at 79,000 miles). The space-saver spare wheel has only been used briefly once. The interior has a few inevitable minor marks but is generally very tidy. The carpets have always had matching carpet mats over them from new. The mats are still in very good condition and the underlying carpet is very clean. The leather sports seats are very comfortable and we have often covered 600 miles in a day on the continent and still felt comfortable in them. The air conditioning is working very effectively. The built-in First Aid kit, Torch and tool kit originally with the car are all present and correct. Damage / Known Problems Other than giving the car a good wash and hoover inside I have not done any “tarting-up” for sale. There are a few normal stone chips around the front, a very small piece of paintwork damage on the edge of the front bumper, a scratch below the offside rear window and some loss of the clear lacquer near the BMW bonnet badge (see additional photos for close-ups of these). One of the small sliding flaps that cover the hood frame upright when the roof is up doesn’t automatically slide into place when the roof is lowered. I have the part that is not in situ to do this but replacing it is awkward. As it is a minor annoyance to either slide the part manually or just leave it open I have not had this fixed. The inside rims of the alloy wheels are showing their age and some areas of the outer skin behind the wheel spokes is flaking off. I sought an expert opinion on this and functionally it is not a problem. The outer rims of the wheels are fine with only very minor kerbing in a few places. Detailed photos of all the wheels are included in the extra photos. On the front passenger leather seat where the seat and backrest outer side bolsters join the stitching needs a minor repair. I already had this done on the driver’s side. Otherwise all the leather upholstery is very good, undamaged and very comfortable.
