HI THERE! Welcome to my auction, thanks for looking.
You are bidding on my much-loved 2003 Mitsubishi SHOGUN Sport Warrior 2.5 Turbo Diesel, which I am sadly placing up for sale due to it failing its MOT just over three months ago. It has 96665 miles on the odometer, which won"t be changing as it is parked up off road and is SORN. The truck is HPI clear, the logbook is present and it is registered in my name and address. There is only one key, but it has two remote central-locking key fobs. There is a substantial amount of service history and receipts which will come with the truck, as well as the original owner"s manual.
I am absolutely gutted to be selling this truck. I paid £4,500 for it in October 2014 from a used car dealer, and had planned to keep it for a good few years. It had a full year"s MOT on it with no advisories. Soon after purchase, a couple of problems showed up. I found that the brakes were not quite right, and as I planned to use the truck for towing our caravan, they had to be 100%. There was also a problem with the starter motor jumping out of mesh before the engine had the chance to start. I took it to a local trusted mechanic to get the required work done. I ended up spending a total of £652.45, which included new front discs, front pads, front brake carriers, front carrier bolts, and rear pads.... Brakes 100%?? Check!! I also opted to have a brand new starter motor fitted, rather than have the old one refurbished. I have the receipt for all this work. The mechanic also checked the engine, gearbox and transfer box over and pronounced everything to be in excellent order, as was to be expected with the low mileage.
Since that initial cash outlay, the SHOGUN has proved to be utterly and totally reliable and dependable. It has towed our caravan up and down the country, and has done so absolutely impressively. It has also been my daily driver and has started first time, every time. Come rain, shine, freeze or snow it has always got me where I needed to be. I have had a friend carry out an oil, oil filter, fuel filter and air filter service on it every 5000 miles give or take, and apart from that my truck hasn"t cost me a bean.
Fast forward to October this year. I booked my beloved SHOGUN in at a local MOT-only specialist and sat back to wait. The tester returned sometime later with a fail certificate and the world dropped out of my errrmm....... bum!
The truck failed on the following:
Exhaust has a major leak of exhaust gasses (centre box to tail pipe broken.)
Shock absorber has a serious fluid leak nearside front.
Fuel cap / sealing device mounting flange / sealing method defective (filler neck corroded and holed.)
Seat belt anchorage prescribed area is excessively corroded nearside rear (inner wheel arch.)
Seat belt anchorage prescribed area is excessively corroded offside rear (inner wheel arch.)
Seat belt locking mechanism does not secure or release centre rear.
It also had the following advisories:
Front suspension has slight play in a lower suspension ball joint offside.
Coil Spring corroded rear (nearside and offside)
Underside corroding in various places.
I obtained a couple of local quotes to have all the work and the required welding done, but couldn"t find anyone who would do it for a price I could justify spending. I"ve been told several times that the cost of the parts would not be too bad at all, it"s the labour that"s going to be the killer. As I am unfortunately completely mechanically-challenged I"m not able to do any of it myself. I have therefore taken the heartbreaking decision to place it up for sale as a spares or repairs project. I"m sure someone with the technical savvy could have my baby back on the road in no time at all, and that she would continue to provide many more years of excellent service. Failing that, she would be a goldmine of spares; the engine, gear box and transfer box are all first class, the leather interior is in very good overall condition, showing only minimal signs of use and every single bit of electrical kit works exactly as it should.
The truck has a set of the desirable genuine Mitsubishi 18 alloy wheels fitted, which are still in good overall condition. Tunes are taken care of by a Sony Bluetooth CD player, which allows you to play music from your phone through the truck"s sound system and also make hands-free calls. The truck has had full towing gear professionally fitted, along with the new 13 pin Euro socket. There is also a set of reversing sensors for effortless parking.
The only fault I know of is the usual-for-the-model flashing four wheel drive light on the dash, which comes on for a few weeks then goes away again, seemingly on a whim. If you Google this fault, you will find copious amounts of info about it. It  requires a part that costs less than a tenner, but the only way you can fit it is by removing the gearbox. I just chose to put up with it, same as everyone else!
I started the SHOGUN up today for the first time in almost two weeks, and as expected she fired up first kick as soon as the glow plug light went out. I really hope she goes to someone who will get her back on the road because I think she"s way too good to break. She polishes up a treat and still looks stunning.
Although it starts, drives and stops absolutely perfectly, the SHOGUN has no MOT and is SORN. I therefore recommend collection by trailer, recovery truck, or similar.
