We have here for auction a Smart City Passion Auto in black. Sold as spares or repairs as it currently doesn’t have a valid MOT, and I’ve not had time to assess the condition of the vehicle as fully as I would like.
I purchased this little Smart car as an MOT failure. I had all good intentions to keep it as a project / hobby, but it has sat untouched for the past two months. Realistically I have more projects than I have time for, so it is probably time to move this one on to somebody else, before it deteriorates.
The car has 83,927 miles on the clock, and condition wise it seems quite reasonable. I say seems, as the car is pretty dirty, and needs a thorough clean inside and out. Mechanically, apart from the issues identified on the MOT, I am not aware of any other problems. The engine runs, and the gearbox works, and from what I can tell it drives OK.
The MOT failure sheet read as follows:
Repair immediately (major defects):
Rear fog lamp not working (4.5.1 (a) (ii))
Offside Front Coil spring worn so that its cross sectional area is reduced and seriously weakened (5.3.1 (b) (i))
Offside Front Anti-roll bar linkage ball joint excessively worn (5.3.4 (a) (i))
Nearside Front Suspension arm ball joint dust cover no longer prevents the ingress of dirt (5.3.4 (b) (ii))
Nearside Rear Shock absorbers has an excessively worn bush (5.3.2 (c))
Offside Rear Shock absorbers has an excessively worn bush (5.3.2 (c))
Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):
play in both front top mounts
Front Brake disc worn, but not excessively (1.1.14 (a) (i))
As you can see, there isn’t a massive amount of work needed to get the vehicle through an MOT. My biggest issue has been, and will continue to be, a lack of time.
The car has a nice leather interior, and alloy wheels. I think it is a nice looking car; indeed you could say it is rather Smart!

Strictly buyer collects from St. Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex. As the vehicle isn’t road legal it will need to be taken away on a trailer. Full payment required via Paypal within 2 days of auction end. Vehicle to be collected within 7 days of auction end.
