This is my daughter-in-law"s car, which I sourced for her in January 2014 with 73k on the clock and I would never have let her buy it unless I thought it was a good one! She has asked me to sell it for her and I said I"d only do so if I advertise it if I do the description. I have over 1000 positive feedback on Ebay at 100% and am ruthlessly honest in my descriptions... I have sold 4 motorbikes and 3 cars over the years on Ebay and always had glowing feedback for them.
Reason for selling is an impulse buy of another car. She came with me when I was looking for a car for her sister (yes, if anyone in the family wants a car, I"m the one they call), she saw a purple Renault Modus for sale by the side of the road and bought it. Her car still has almost a full tank of fuel (£40 worth! See photo 6) in it as she took it off the road the same day she bought the new one, and SORN"d it.
So, she learned to drive in it (which shows how easy it is to drive), passed her test first time and has used it daily for commuting, holidays etc.
In the two and a half years since then, it has been a comfortable, reliable car. It did have two problems in her time with it, which were a binding rear caliper (replaced, along with new pads on both sides) and a misfire, which was diagnosed as a coil breakdown and that too was replaced. Other than that it has NEVER given any problems and has NEVER failed to start or get to its destination. I must confess, that every time my wife and I get in it as passengers, we always comment on how comfortable, quiet and roomy it is (and we have a new Merc C class!), so it really is a great little car.
I located a full set of winter wheels (photo 1), which have good quality Vredestein tyres which have about 3-4mm on them and give a lot more confidence and control whenever the temperature drops below 7c. The alloy wheels are in good condition although one is kerbed far more than the others (see photo 9). It has 2 matching pairs of tyres (front 2 being Goodyears), all of which have a minimum of 6mm tread on them.
It uses (but doesn"t leak) a tiny bit of oil, which equates to a 1/2 litre top up being required after about 6000 miles, so it"s pretty negligible. There is no smoke on start up or when being revved. It doesn"t lose any coolant. It has air conditioning, which works just fine. Every single button and switch on the car works as it should.
The interior is in truly lovely condition and the only thing I could find to fault it was one tiny brown mark on the drivers side seat squab (cigarette burn presumably, but not right through) and some small black marks on the passenger carpet.
It has a few minor scrapes and scratches which I have tried to capture in the photos, but has never been in a crash or had paintwork done. It"s not concours, but from 10-15 feet away, it looks pretty damn smart!
KNOWN FAULTS
Has 2 keys, 1 of which is a "plipper" type, but this doesn"t work. Central locking functions as it should when using the key in the locksHad an advisory at last MOT - Nearside front anti-lock braking system component slightly damaged . I didn"t take it so I don"t know exactly what it refers to, but daughter-in-law think it"s an ABS sensor and was told it was not dangerous (hence advisory only, I guess) and would cost around £100 to fix. She said it shows itself as the ABS kicking in occasionally at very low speeds (walking pace-ish) and never at normal driving speeds. The headlights were also an advisory and I"ve cleaned those up with T-cut so they are 95% perfect now. Long travel on handbrake not touched The engine is sounding a bit "tappety". I am pretty good with mechanics and it"s definitely not cam rattle. These engines have hydraulic tappets and as the car has now done 14k since its last service, an oil flush and change should do the trick. I"m not about to do this on my drive and it"s SORNED so we cannot take it to be done!

The car is available to view most evenings and at the weekend, near J23 of the M1 (Loughborough). It is SORN"d and not insured so test drives are at your own peril, if you have evidence of insurance and leave the full asking price in cash in case you bend it, in which case you"ve bought it! Don"t forget that a full tank of fuel and the winter wheels and tyres are included in the price, when comparing with another car!
