SPARES OR REPAIR. THIS CAR REALLY IS TOO NICE TO SEND OF TO THE SCRAP YARD.SEE THE PICTURES ITS JUST TOO CLEAN INSIDE AND OUT THE CAR WILL NOT FIRE UP, THE PROBLEM STARTED WITH THE IMMOBILISER SYSTEM AND HAD A NEW ANTENNA COIL ON THE IGNITION BARREL FITTED BUT STILL REFUSED TO START SO I CALLED IN AN AUTO ELECTRICIAN RECOMMENDED BY MY LOCAL Kia DEALER. A FULL DIAGNOSTICS WAS DONE AND THE ECU IDENTIFIED AS THE PROBLEMTHE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING FOR SOME TIME NOW AND HAS TO GO ( I HAVE TOO MANY CARS & MY OTHER HALF SAYS ITS GOT TO GO )THE CAR HAD A NEW CAMBELT FITTED TWO DAYS BEFORE THE ECU GAVE UP AND NEW HANDBRAKE CABLES BOTH SIDES
i HAVE A REFURBISHED ECU READY TO FIT BUT IT NEEDS TOWING TO A Kia DEALERS TO BE PROGRAMMED TO THE CAR . £50 BY Kia TO DO THIS ( I HAVE CHECKED )
WILL NEED AT LEAST ONE TYRE AND SHOULD SAIL THROUGH AN MOT
THE CAR IS THE SE MODEL, ALL LEATHER INTERIOR ,OVER MATS / CARPETING, TINTED ELEC FRONT AND REAR WINDOWS .ELEC SUNROOF, ELEC FOLDING WING/DOOR MIRRORS
IM LOATH TO SEND THIS OFF TO THE SCRAP YARD,I KNOW I,D GET AT LEAST £250 BUT BECAUSE IT REALLY IS TOO GOOD I REALLY DONT WANT TO DO THAT. ONCE SORTED FOR A SMALL OUTLAY
THIS WILL MAKE A CRACKING MOTOR AND I,D DO THE WORK MYSELF BUT IM UNDER PRESSURE TO GET RID OF IT.
THE CAR WILL OBVIOUSLY HAVE TO BE TOWED OR PUT ON A TRAILER....
in answer to several questions,easy start doesn"t help, the engine spins freely and will do until the battery runs flatthe immobiliser system works by reading a chip in the key, there"s an antenna coil on the ignition barrel, this reads the key chip, sends an ok signal to a unit called the SMARTRA UNIT which adds another bit to the code and transmits this to the ECU to say, fire up. the diagnostic carried out on the car showed no fault codes, I have the two keys, each chip, antenna ring and smartra unit were good. the immobiliser system was triple checked and reprogramed 3 times. the signals were getting to the ECU and the ECU was found to be the fault.the ECU basically tells the fuel system to start working, the fuel pump to start pumping and the injectors to start injecting,( as explained by the guy doing the diagnostic and local Kia dealership said same )hope this helps explain that as far as I have been told its the ECU that needs replacing and programming in, and I have a refurbished ECU to go with the car.
