Here for sale is my partner Fiona’s Smart Roadster, for auction.
This is a wonderfully fun car to drive. It is also very economical, and now is a great time to get a soft-top ready for Summer. A change of jobs has sadly meant a change of vehicle. She now needs to carry medical scanning equipment and the Roadster is just too small for this duty. This is a shame, as we have, we think, got her nicely sorted. When we bought her, last June, she needed a new cam chain with guides and ABS rings, along with an oil change service. This was done by Fudge Smart and is documented. We did ask Fudge to check her over and rectify any obvious problems, in consideration of her 97k miles. We were told there was nothing obvious wrong, and that was not surprising with regular maintenance. It was then used for commuting, and as her everyday transport up to Xmas.

My Partner had a cross country B road commute avoiding the busy traffic, and the car ran sterlingly from Thurlstone to Barnsley Hospital 3 days per week until last December. The car has not been garaged while we have had her, but, for the model has stayed remarkably dry inside. Some of these vehicles do leak badly, but this one is quite good in that respect. The service history is compete and stamped to 2013, after which it has largely been serviced by its owners.
It has recently had a new set of windscreen and wipers, and I also replaced the wiper motor as it was running rather slowly. All of the rear left hand lighting loom has also been replaced, as the contacts were corroded and were proving unreliable. Remote locking works well with both keys, as do the electric roof and windows and wipers. Upholstery has no holes and it has not been smoked in to our knowledge.
Please note that all of these cars have a semi automatic sequential gear change, so if you want a manual or full automatic, it is best not to look at a Smart.
Prior to buying this car I was told that it had the following work done, but I was not supplied documentation for this:
Gearbox work and new clutch. New front discs. New sump. Reconditioned steering rack and CPU.
When we first got it it did cut out a couple of times. This was diagnosed as the crank shaft sensor requiring replacement. We bought the part, but as it stopped doing this with  the advent of regular use I never fitted it, however I do still have the part.

There is a mark on the bonnet, see photo. The panels are plastic, so no rust, but I am guessing someone has attempted an amateur repair.
As with all cars, I would advise looking at the car before purchase. The car is a 2005, 54 plate model, so please do not expect a new car, however we bought it in the expectation that it would retain its value and become a modern classic. It has been periodically started since Xmas and was MOT tested last month. I have tried to be totally honest perhaps declaring some things I could have omitted. I am sure this will keep its value and is already becoming a clasic.
A non refundable £200 deposit is required with the balance being due as either cash or cleared funds.
