 Proton GEN2 GLS 1.6 (Lotus Badged)
For sale is my Proton GEN2 1.6. I have owned the car for a year and as the wife has started driving lessons, we"ve swapped to a (much!) smaller car for the foreseeable. So my beloved GENevieve,the worlds only Loton Protus, is up for sale.
Originally advertised for £1,200, reduced to £800 for quick sale! so £800 OVNO!
It is MOT"d until February 05 2016 (no advisories after re-test)
Within a year with me she"s
- done near enough 15,000 miles (mainly A1 Edinburgh-Newcastle)
- had 4 tyres bought (thanks to a double puncture from the worlds largest pothole)
- rebadged as a lotus and had all model badges removed (Lotus badges were cheaper than Proton ones!)
- removed CD changer for much better and more modern AUX port
- had an extra 12v port fitted under peassenger side dash
- interior lights swapped to LED (originals were dim as fudge!)
- Brake lights improved to LED CREE bulbs (faster on and brighter!)
- had a K&N air filter element fitted (has improved bhp and mpg!)
- constantly cared for and tinkered with the keep her in great working order
- had a couple of paint marks touched up and is now pretty darn well gleaming
She"s been a great car for me and honestly is a great car to drive, it handles fantastically well (thanks to lotus engineering in the suspension & chassis) and for a 1.6, it really can fly and take a few people for a surprise. Also, now that she has lotus badges on there"s not quite as much badge shame given from any people who completely underestimate how good of a car this is. There"s also a great new game where you can sitin the car and watch as people do a double-take at the badge and continue walking, completely bemused.
There"s slight damage to the driver side rear light (still no idea how it happened but it definitely wasn"t me!) I"ve shown it in a picture and it has passed it"s mot with the damage. I was also starting to look at buying some better alloys for the car, it"s sitting on standard Proton ones at the moment but, alas, the old fella who owned it before me seemed to have a thing for kerbs. Also, the goldy coloured drivers seat has some slight staining from previous owner too. Will probably wash out but I"ve never tried.
Tax will cost you £205 a year, insurance group is actually quite low, and I only get under 40mpg if I cane it. On a motorway run I have achieved 60mpg.
I"ve really enjoyed owning this little car and I"ll be sad to see her go, but times must. Please feel free to leave any offers, all will be considered and dealt with.
