In simple terms the engine is knackered , but we dont know quite how badly . The car overheated and was driven until it stopped of its own accord . Minimum problem is likely to be head gasket and rebuild , more likely the answer is a new engine
Car has done 170,000 miles , but bodywork and interior are in good condition
Too good to scrap , but too expensive for a garage repair .....MOT Until February 2015
