That really does mean all the wheels drive the car, all the time.

My wife has owned this car for over 4 years and in that time we have not had a single breakdown or any reason to take it to the garage other than for servicing. It is quite astonishing to drive, if you have never driven one. It glides uphill in ice and snow using all four wheels just as if the road were dry tarmac. Similarly it stops on snow packed roads as if on a dry road. I tried a fast getaway on a pebble car park once, and it wouldn’t even throw any pebbles up. So if you are Jeremy Clarkson with a private airfield this is not the car for you. See how some other so-called 4 wheel drive cars perform compared to the Subaru FORESTER. The automatic box is a joy. Using a light throttle the only way you can tell it is changing gear is to watch the rev counter: there is no jerk, as you commonly get with automatic gearboxes. Driving it within the speed limits, I went from Leicester to Yarmouth with 4 adults and luggage and it averaged 43mpg on petrol – that did surprise me!
It has a LPG gas conversion (I am a professional gas engineer) only recently completed, and it is certified on the UKLPG register. This is important as it shows a competent conversion which is needed for insurance purposes. You think petrol is cheap? I pay 56p/litre for gas. It starts from cold using petrol, and within 300 yards it switches itself to gas. If the gas tank runs out, you get a warning and it automatically switches back to petrol, with no coughing and spluttering.
We are selling it because I am retiring and we will get an electric car because of its very low running costs. There isn’t any other diesel or petrol car I would rather have than the Subaru.
