I"ve owned Smarts on and off since 2001 and love these cars. The Smart Diesel in 54bhp form is the definitive Smart. It zips around does 95mph and on a run will do 75mpg.
This particular Smarty is a rare limited edition ICE model.
The press release for this model is as follows:
UK customers have just received a new Smart FORTWO special edition. The new Smart ICE will be available in striking deep black with black finish tridion safety cell. It was developed in cooperation to Pioneer and will be limited to only 200 units. Those 200 units will consist of 140 micro hybrid drive petrol versions priced from £10,495 on-the-road as well as 60 diesels, which will cost £11,245.
The special edition also gets a two-way speaker system and active subwoofer, a user-friendly touch-screen displays album artwork, and Pioneer’s innovative MusicSphere technology.
Its Navgate system also offers information about traffic jams and accidents as well as highlighting more than six million points of interest in 44 countries. Customers can also get a new ECO Graph package to analyze their driving performance.
Its black exterior is completed by 15 BRABUS Monoblock VII alloy wheels and panoramic roof. The interior will get black leather heated seats, leather optic upper dashboard and 3-spoke leather sports steering wheel with steering wheel gear shift.
The diesel was the dearest variant as you can see above. These engines are legendary and courier companies in Germany use thousands of Smart diesels due to the fact that unlike the petrol engines which can fail prematurely, the diesels will cover at least 250,000 miles.
A change of personal circumstances means that I need a large tow wagon so the Smart no longer suits my needs. It"s a shame as it has super low miles and is in great condition although the camera has made the carpets look a bit dusty. The rear tyres have covered a mere 500 miles and were fitted a month ago. The Pioneer head unit finds my phone as soon as I get into the car and hands free phone calls are a single button press to answer on the touch screen.
