I am reluctantly putting my Alfa Romeo 159 SW 2.0 16v JTDM Diesel Ti Edition up for sale.
It’s a very late model, first registered November 2011 by Bauer Millett, Alfa Romeo main dealer in Manchester. It was their showroom model. I bought it off them in April 2012 as the first owner, it had only done 11 miles when I collected it. It was the last 159 SW sold new in the country I was informed and I believe there are less than 20 159 SW in the UK with the same specification so a very rare car indeed. It’s currently on a private plate (not included) so will be sold with its original plate which is a 61 reg.
Finished in the gleaming Bianco white paint (not as pure white as the latest Giulietta), it’s a genuine Ti spec model so features all the usual Ti extra’s such as 19” alloys, chrome mirrors, Red Brembo calipers, lowered sports suspension, Ti badges, black and red interior, sports seats finished in half leather/alcantara. The dealer added factory fitted chrome roof bars which look superb. If you see a 159 SW without roof bars, then you will appreciate how much better they look with them fitted.
It also has rear parking sensors built into the rear bumper, I think this was factory fitted optional feature. Other features include traction control on/off button, cruise control, push button start, heated front seats, climate control, Bose sound system.
It’s in very good condition and extremely well looked after by an Alfa enthusiast. It has been faultless in the time I have owned it. I also drive a 147 GTA and a Giulietta, previously owned another 147 and a Mito. I first serviced it in April 2013, a year after I bought it. Mileage at the service was 10913. The next service was March 2014, mileage was 19076. This service was carried out by Auto Lusso, the leading independent Alfa specialist in the country. They fitted uprated adjustable suspension bushes which massively improve the ride and “turn in” of the car. They also cured the problem of the Ti model not being properly aligned from factory. They carried out a complete 4 wheel alignment using state of the art equipment to set it correctly. I also had two new tyres fitted.
The current mileage is 28350 which will probably be one of the lowest in the country for a 159 SW Ti. It has just been serviced with new oil and filters. I have also just fitted new rear brake discs and pads. I"ve also just fitted very high quality brand new front tyres (Continental Sport Contacts) which cost me £350. The MOT wasn"t due until November, but I have MOT"d it this week so the new owner has the assurance of 12 months MOT. It passed with flying colours, no problems at all.
The 159 drives beautifully without any running issues at all. I’ve never had a problem with it and it’s been a superb car. The ride is fantastic even with 19” wheels and the lowered sports suspension. If you have ever driven the older Alfa 156 SW, then you will appreciate how much better the 159 drives and handles.
The 159 2.0 JTDM engine fuel economy was commonly known to have been vastly over estimated by Alfa in all the reviews. There is no way you will get anywhere near Alfa figures with a standard car, just read any Alfa forum to confirm this. This was the only disappointing aspect of the car for me. I researched it in detail and decided to have the engine remapped by Alfa Tune in St Helens. They are renowned for being the best tuner in the country. They remapped the engine for me and power increased to 200bhp with a big helping of extra torque. This totally transformed the car, gone was the sluggish bottom end. It really pulls hard and now feels a completely different engine. The added benefit was improved fuel economy. I struggled to get more than 40mpg out of it on a run (same for most people), but it now does 50mpg easily on the motorway and around the town (short, stop start journeys) it has improved by around 7mpg, to 38-40mpg on my combined journeys with 50mpg on long motorway runs.
The bodywork and interior is in very good condition, some would say near mint. I am a very careful driver and always park it away from other people where possible! I have it professionally waxed every 6 months and it has just been treated to a  full detailed valet for the new owner. It was in for 3 days at the valeters having the full monty treatment! The wheels are in superb condition, just a small kerb mark on one of them is the only thing that stops them being mint, but I had them sealed when new so they are very shiny and have no brake stains or corrosion whatsoever. The sports seats have worn very well and I have really looked after them as best I could.
Every winter, I change the 19” Ti alloy wheels in October to 17” Alfa multi-spoke alloy wheels with Dunlop SP winter tyres fitted until March. These winter tyres are amazing and it means I can get almost anywhere in snow and slippery conditions. You don’t need 4x4 if you have these fitted, the 159 will get you anywhere. The winter alloys/tyres can be included with the car as an extra for £250.

I am not interested in any silly low offers or “quick sales”, I would prefer to arrange the sale properly with a sensible new owner viewing the car before negotiating the price.
I have looked at all the other 159 SW Ti’s currently for sale (not many about as a very rare car!) and have priced my car accordingly considering the low mileage, condition, service history, recent new parts and upgrades. If you compare the other cars for sale then you will appreciate it’s a very good deal.
