1997 P TVR Chimaera 500 Mk2 Taraka 68k miles FSH
Finished in Aston Martin Solent Silver with blue and biscuit interior and blue wool carpets and navy blue hood.
This car is an absolute machine....... the engine is Taraka No5 TVR Power"s in house upgrade 5 litre engine, see below for full engine spec, it has the optional power steering, front brakes are the AP TVR set up from a Tuscan, its running ACT exhaust manifolds and sports cats, alloy radiator and silicone hoses, GAZ Gold Pro suspension and has the 5 stud wheel conversion so is currently sitting on 16 spiders with Toyo R888 tyres, the tyres and suspension have only done 5k miles.Bodywork and chassis are in excellent order with just a few minor stone chips to the front bodywork and we have just carried out a de-scale and minor rust cure treatment to the outriggers and repainted them, they do not need replacing and the rest of the chassis is excellent.Interior is a really nice place to be with Navy blue top panels, dash and door card tops with lower panels and seats in contrasting biscuit with new wool blue carpets and the dashboard veneers have been replaced recently and are perfect.
Everything works as it should and the car drives as you would expect such a well developed machine to do and..... it is properly fast!
Full extensive service history from TVR dealers and specialists and a massive file of history with loads of receipts, 14 service stamps in the book up to 68k last year when we got the car. Receipts for virtually every service and part fitted including the original bill of sale and TVR order sheet.
This car was exported to Germany in 2008 and has lived there and in France until we re-imported the car last year when the French owner took a liking to a Tuscan we had for sale and on hearing the spec of this car we were only too happy to take it in part ex, plus the fact that it has lived in sunnier climes and hasn"t seen a salty road for 12 years was also attractive and is obviously why the chassis is so good.
Whilst in Germany the car was looked after by ACS Pro a German TVR specialist and there are lots of receipts for work done by them including servicing and suspension work, then in France it was looked after by Univers Motors another well known TVR Specialist.
When the car came to us it had a timing chain rattle so we opted to get the engine stripped and inspected by our trusted ex TVR factory race engine builder who refreshed the engine with new timing chain and sprockets, new bearings, crank polish and new valve train components including lifters, new complete rocker assemblies ie rockers, shafts and posts so the engine is now as good as new.
We have completed a full 12k service to the TVR schedule for the new owner and offer the car with our own 12 months warranty so that it is ready for 12 months trouble free motoring and with a fresh MOT
The car was supplied by Portfield TVR main dealer in February 1997.

TVR Power Taraka engine upgrade described as follows;
CYLINDER HEAD RE-WORKINGThe cylinder heads are re-worked with balanced combustion chambers and modified ports. All installed valve spring pressures and heights are measured and re-worked to TVR Power’s own specification.INLET MANIFOLD RE-WORKINGThe inlet manifold is re-worked with larger ports and a modified trumpet base, and all inlet ports and gaskets are matched and blended to remove any obstructionCRANKSHAFT ASSEMBLYAll components in the assembly are re-balanced on our own dynamic crank balancer to give a smoother, vibration free delivery.VALVETRAIN ASSEMBLYThe camshaft is replaced by one specifically developed by TVR Power for this application, which is timed in with a degree wheel for maximum power. PLENUM TOP / AIR INTAKEThe plenum top is bored out to over 70m/m and a larger brass butterfly is fitted along with a specially machined aluminium bell mouth to increase intake volume.ECU EPROM CHIPThe standard 500 chip is replaced with one specially developed for this up-grade, giving a smooth spread of power throughout the rev range.
The car is HPI clear and from our experience it all looks original with no evidence of any crash damage anywhere.
The car will come with a new MOT at sale.
