Enthusiast owned and regularly maintained car. It’s unfortunately time to sell my much loved and enjoyed Brera. I’ve replaced her with something more suitable for family life and she now gets very little use hence the desire to give her a new home. I’ve owned the car for the last three years or so and have covered around 30k miles in that time. I understand there to have been two previous owners. My ownership hasn’t been without event but the lovely looks combined with the noise and driving experience has made up for any foibles. A suspected cross threaded sump plug at around 46k miles caused an oil leak and subsequent bottom end failure. I fortunately sourced a replacement nearly new engine including gearbox which has been in the car since. The engine and gear box are therefore very low mileage at around 20k miles. The car has been serviced twice (officially) by (Avanti Autos Ipswich) since the engine replacement (by Alfarama Stanmore) and in line with guidance from the owners community Alfaowners.co.uk, the oil has been changed every 10k or before to ensure deposits are kept to a minimum and preserve the duplex timing chain. The service book shows another 5 stamps so a total of 7 in 66k miles with the last full service approx 600miles ago. Unlike many 3.2’s, the oil temperature gauge works (an expensive repair for those that commonly fail). A new radiator was also fitted at time of engine/gearbox replacement in conjunction with aircon recharge and 4 wheel alignment. Previous to this and part of the first service, the power steering reservoir and fluid was changed to avert a well known issue which can cause steering rack failure. In early 2013, the high pressure fuel pump was replaced (an expensive repair) along with three coil packs and the six spark plugs. This coincided with new discs (mtex grooved and dimpled) and pads (mintex). As the car has done very little mileage in the last year, Avanti recently took care of some work including the front nearside track rod end (a common fault) and some general maintenance in preparation of sale. The car was checked over as per a service but decided not to change oil and other items as it had only covered 25miles since its previous service in 2013. A new Bosch battery has also been fitted. It subsequently has a fresh MOT (until August 2015) with tax until Jan 2015. When undertaking the work, I had no intention of selling the car so maintaining to a high standard and doing precautionary work while the engine was apart made sense. I expect the new owner to benefit from this foresight. Considering the money and effort put into maintaining the car to its mechanical best, it would be a shame just to give it away to a dealer so I hope it will find a good home with another Alfa enthusiast. There are some stone chips around the front bumper and rear wheels arches but this is typical for the age and mileage of the car. I currently have a set of 17” wheels from a 159 fitted with nearly new winter tyres. Availability and choice or tyres is much better on the smaller size for winter and they offer better protection from winter roads thanks to the increased sidewall. A set of 18” Brera cross-spokes will also be included in the sale (as per main picture taken a couple of years ago). They require new tyres but this is better done at the new owner’s preference. So to summarise, a much loved and enthusiast owned car with plenty of receipts to shows investment in its maintenance looking for a new home. Obviously, you are welcome to come and view the car and test drives permitted on presentation of valid insurance. No time wasters please and I cannot offer finance or monthly payment plans.
