vehicle description:

Car must be collected within 3 days of a auction close. If you want to view, come and view it, if you don"t have the money, don"t bid, if you aren"t sure, don"t bid
For sale is my 156 Sportwagon 1.9 JTD M-jet Veloce, in metallic blue. It is a facelifted car, meaning you get much better looking car and much improved interior. It has been my own car for last 4 years and has had plenty of maintenance by previous owners and me. I have spent alot of time on the car, so I know all issues. All the major running gear has been replaced at some time of the last 4 years (clutch, brakes, suspension etc) and anything else major has been done by the previous owner. I have now replaced the car with another project, so sadly it has to go.
To start with, the car is selling as spares or repair for someone to take on the fixes or drive as it is as a cheap estate. It has high miles and some issues that would need resolving in the long term, but has never failed me on daily use and long trips.
Having a towbar, cruise control, CD player, dual zone climate, 6 speed gearbox, rear load cover with dog guard, Isofix for child seats, 16 inch Teledial wheels and sport suspension it is quite a well specced car. Ideal for a run-around, towing a trailer or taking the dogs out in.
The interior is pretty good, its a good type velour cloth, better than I have seen in many cars. Black in colour with no rips or tears, some bolster wear on drivers seat. All works as it should inside, all electric windows, dual zone climate, but not cold, just needs re-gassing. I prefered window open! Never been smoked in from what I can tell. The seats are capable of taking Isofix child seats as well as normal. There is a Nokia bluetooth car kit installed. The boot is a bit tatty, been well used by me with allsorts thrown in the back and a few campings trips too. The drivers side is currently throwing up an airbag light, but this is quite normal of alfas, needs the corrector finding, cleaning and securing closed with a zip-tie. If I have time, I will try and resolve this before the auction ends.
Since I had the car (4 years), it has had probably £1500 of parts fitted:Regular servicing by myselfRetrofit cruise control added and works a treat!New radiator and thermostat (was not getting fully warm)New silicon intercooler hose (common fault that they split).New brakes, discs, pads and hoses and handbrake cables (as brake efficiency was an issue when I brought car, just did them all)Full set of shocks and sprints (-30mm lower as per the Sportpack original optional kit on saloon versions of the 156) So the ride is harsher than normal sportwagons. But the result is great handling for an estate. The original car had self-levelling rear suspension which had gotten too weak and far too expensive to replace with the same. It also makes it look great for an estate.New front wishbones (4) uppers AND lowers and drop links, which are common failures on these cars.New front anti-roll bar - this is a major task but necessary to get rid of the annoying vibrations on uneven roadsSwap of alloy wheels to 16 Alfa genuine Teledials, they look far better then the standard ones. It currently has good tread on all the tyres (215/55/16s)New clutch and flywheel (DMF) - Due to excessive play in the DMF.
I will be overly critical, just so you know the detail behind any issues or negative points.
The recent MOT this week passed first time, however with 3 advisories.Worn lower balljoint on drivers side. Not a fail, but advisoryFront brake pads lowGearbox oil leakThe other bad points:The gearbox oil leak is Ok when standing and at minimum on the gear dipstick. The leak gets worse if you top-up the level above minimum, It needs keeping an eye on to see if it gets worse.
The exterior of the car is OK. It scrubs up OK, but has several blemishes. Like.... Small dent where I reversed into a grit bin, the bumper flexed and left a small dent no bigger than a golf ball on the rear corner. Mirror paint has faded, they look a different colour to the car. Plenty of stone chips on front of car, and a split on the bottom edge of front bumper. Rear bumper has plenty of scratches due to things going in and out of the boot. A small scrape on the rear bumper close to the arch and front bumper before I brought the car. Side skirt on drivers side was cracked and other stone chips to roof and rear arch. I am being critical in order to explain the full extent as I know the car very well. It is not a brand new car, but it still looks good from a few paces.
The Radio and CD all works But the head unit is just not very good (not loud at all) it picks up radio and plays CDs fine.
The exhaust lost a bracket ... and as a temporary fix, I attached it again with some jubilee clips, I never sorted that.... so its still like it.
In conclusion, a cheap, sporty estate.... with some issues, but a fresh 12 month MOT. No engine management lights on the dash, the drivers airbag being the only thing. The on board computer intermittently throws up a low oil warning, its part of the fun of having an alfa! some day you get no errors!
I have an Alfa code reader in case you wish to see a fresh extract of the engine management system or airbag lights.
If you have any questions, call me on 07792 717249 or make me an offer. Car has to go....
