vehicle description:

For sale is my stunning Alfa Romeo 159. I spent a long time looking for one with this spec, and in the incredibly rare (and beautiful!) Aurora Blue.
The car has been maintained with no expense spared (full service history, cambelt done etc.), and cherished - I use only Autoglym products to wash and detail/polish the car, and I only ever wash it myself, I"m allergic to car washes. I have a major case of OCD when it comes to my car, which is a good thing if you"re buying a car off me. Less so if you"re my wife.
The car has the odd scratch and a number of stone chips, the wheels although in very good condition do have the odd mark on the rim, and the odd water ingress on under the lacquer - this is common, and there is nothing on or around the car which would even catch your attention on first inspection, it really is very good - I"m always careful of the word "immaculate" as it"s subjective, but in my opinion it"s certainly as immaculate as you"ll find for this age of car. The interior is unmarked, really good.
The car has been 100% reliable for me, I bought it in March 2014 and have done just short of 40,000 miles in it. I"ve spent a fair bit of money on servicing and maintenance (and even silly things like new badges which were faded) but strictly on routine maintenance, it has never let me down. It"s actually been the most reliable, most fun car I"ve ever owned!
I"ll list as many things as I can think of, but please email for further info, and please feel free to come and see the car. It will need insuring and taxing before you drive it away, and test drives will be difficult without doing so due to the new tax laws (grrrr), because I"ve already got the replacement car so this will be SORN"d by the weekend.
I"ve actually replaced the Alfa with an older Volvo estate (my parents" car), as we have our third child on the way and I need an estate car, if it wasn"t for this it would be staying - I love everything about it and I no longer have the resolve (or time!) to spend as long as I did looking for one as good as this. So pick your cliche, but there really is a genuine reason for sale!
I actually made a film of the car, so if you want to see it in action, and me talking about it in more detail, please check this out - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5MKHdtdtOs.
Car spec:
2008 159 1.9 16v JTDM diesel (150bhp) Aurora Blue Rare boot lip spoiler 17 diamond cut alloy wheels Full leather "lusso" interior with aluminium dashboard inserts and steering wheel spokes Fitted genuine Alfa Romeo mats all round Electric windows all round, cruise control, trip computer etc etc. Auto lights and wipers Brembo front brakes Bluetooth in-car telephone and music entertainment system with USB port 50mpg regularly achieved on an average motorway journey
Extras / notable maintenance: Cambelt and water pump / tensioners etc. all changed at 60,000 miles just before I bought the car. They are recommended every 80k, but the last owner was as fastidious as me so had it done early to be on the safe side. I have the receipt and in fact a wad of other service details dating to when the car was new.
New drive shafts (the bearings can get noisy at around 60,000 miles - nothing sinister, just annoying so I had them changed at considerable expense when I bought the car.)
New rear springs and rear suspension top mounts at last service
Front brakes fully overhauled including new discs and pads at last service
Brand new front tyres last week (rears fine) - all tyres match as I"m fussy about that!
It was serviced at 96,000 miles in July last year by an Alfa Romeo Specialist - all receipts etc. included.  Full service history - all stamped up
All keys (two remote control ones too which is rare)
The original service wallet with the radio / key codes etc. is in the handbook wallet and is still sealed from new
New battery a year ago
Two things to mention (neither needs sorting):
1. Every once in a while the engine management light flashes up, which can be alarming when it first happens (especially as you"re driving an Alfa Romeo!), but I have looked into it at great length and it is simply a known fault with a sensor on the auxiliary fan circuit somewhere down near the radiator that controls the air con. It sends a wrong signal and flashes up fault 00148. Alfa Romeo themselves can"t confirm if a replacement control unit will solve the issue, and as it does not affect anything and isn"t a physical problem of any kind, I have left it. To give you an idea, this happened once in the last 6 months, and chances are it won"t happen again for over 6 months, but I want to be completely honest and also stop you panicking if it does occur! Do a forum search for the issue; a recall unit was once offered for sale apparently, but it hasn"t been something I"ve felt the need to sort out having run diagnostic checks at Alfa Romeo and had reassurances it"s nothing operational, simply a dodgy signal. The light goes back out after a couple of engine starts and the code clears itself - call it a quirk!
2. This week the boot badge switch stopped working - easy fix but I don"t use it much anyway as I use the button on the key or the internal pull so this might be something you"d want to sort. Few quid!
Anything else, please feel free to email. Due to the strange hours I work and the fact that I can"t often answer my phone please email in the first instance - I"ll happily arrange a call from there if needs be. Please, please do yourself a favour - come and look at this car before you look at any others. You won"t be wasting your time - it"s absolutely stunning, mechanically sorted and has been looked after incredibly well. Thanks for looking.
