Apart from the full up to date service history, the manual 6-speed gearbox and differential have just been rebuilt with 8 uprated bearings, new 3rd & 4th gears, including their synchromesh and all oil seals.
IMPORTANT NOTE the GM M32 gearbox used in all 159 Alfa’s (and many other GM vehicles) is prone to whine from the standard gearbox bearings as they wear prematurely. The gearbox noise gets worse from about 70,000miles (check out the M32 gearbox problems on Google). If not rectified promptly, the bearings can fail catastrophically and without further warning.
This Alfa 159 has Cruise Control, Dual Zone Automatic Climate Control with Split Temperature and Distribution Function, Electronic start/stop button, electric front and rear windows with auto-close function. There is a security coded Media centre with FM radio and CD, ‘Blue & Me’ Bluetooth hands-free telephone with voice recognition for the Media player and a USB port ‘Windows designed’ socket in the glove box. A factory alarm and immobiliser is fitted, along with rear parking sensors ‘Hill Holder’ function (handbrake-free hill starts), Alloy Sports wheels for 225/50 R17 tyres and 4-pot ‘Alfa Romeo’ embossed front brake callipers.
The rare 8V 159 has almost 14% cheaper urban running costs, is cheaper to tax and insure and has similar GT performance compared with the 16V. For added security, the window glass has been etched and the car is registered with the International Security Register and comes complete with the Update Form ready for the new owner.
