vehicle description:

For sale is my Alfa Romeo Spider, 2.0ts in lovely Victoria blue, which is almost two tone bluey purple.
It is a sad day to be selling my Spider, but needs must as I am due to work abroad for a year, and will need a larger car to transport my life!It dives great, and has MOT till October 19th. It was valeted today, and the roof was cleaned and treated!
Sorry for the very long listing you"re about to read!!
I bought this car in 2010, and have done around 20000 miles in the 6 years, mileage is genuinely low for it"s age..at 71800,
Since I have owned it I have brought it up to scratch. Fixing things, and freshening the look up with tasteful upgrades. The list is long, and probably worth boring you with, as I feel they all enhance the car, so here goes..... early on I replaced the roof, material including back window in a lovely blue to match. It has a few scuffs on the drivers side where it folds, maybe the mechanism can be adjusted? the drivers door window also catches it a bit, and has marked it a little. This can also be adjusted so it won"t catch. Back window still looking pretty clear! It had a new clutch 2011. and service with all those spark plugs. I have changed the oil a couple of times since, could probably do with a fresh fill by new owner. I was told Cambelt was done not long before I bought it.I have fitted more modern genuine 17 alloy wheels, I think they were an option for the 147. they have 20mm hubcentric spacers all round and correct length bolts to make them correct for the Spider, or at least look better. Good tyres all round, I think Bridgestone on the backs. But ill check this. Alloys do have some scuffs not perfect, I"d say as expected.
quad exhaust system, replaced from cat back, which has 2 silencers, removing 2 of the standard ones, I think there was originally about 4, It now sounds great, you"ll find yourself dropping it down a gear through tunnels, with a big grin on your face. It"s fantastic, even the wife likes it. But it"s not too loud that it"s a constant drone, nd no problem even with the roof down.
It has a front strut brace, and an expensive induction kit, fitted by prospeed in cardiff, not just a cone filter. It has Autodelta J10 front lip spoiler and side skirts, and a Cadamuro rear bumper spoiler. These look great, really enhancing the already great lines. When these were painted I also did the door mirrors body colour.I have fitted roll bar hoops, and a sign maker friend of mine made up a wind brake f=rom thick perspex, with the alfa logo etched in it
I fitted HID main beam lights, and LED fog lights and side lights and clear bulb side indicators.Shortened the gearstick and fitted a new gearknob, It"s so much better, and more comfortable, quick changing, and less in the way of the stereo. which is a sony Bluetooth. It"s great, I have fitted a mic up the pillar, and it pops out by the sun visor so nearer the driver. Great for calls or music on your phone or ipad, with Spotify which nowdays is the way to do it.It has matching tan leather gaiters, and a tan leather padded centre armrest. Chrome rings on dials, clear side indicators. I also replaced front and back badges as these are often faded.
Last year I fitted Mtec grooved and vented discs all round, and EBC green stuff pads. I also had braided brake hoses fitted, and painted the front calipers red, and got alfa decals, I meant to get around to painting the back ones, but this didn"t happen. You can have the red paint. There is also a brand new set of front pads, used for about a day before I got the green stuff.
It also has number plate reversing sensors. I wanted to fit them, but didn"t want to ruin the lines of that lovely back bumper so this was the best option.
the passenger seat has had the mod done and foam carved out to make the sitting position better. It"s amazing, and wish I had got around to doing it to the drivers seat. I only did it as I guess the roof on that side wasn"t shut properly, and the seat got wet, so removed it to dry it out.Speakers have all been upgraded, fly speakers in the doors, and a new sub speaker in the centre back, sent over form America. There was lots of talk of it on the alfa forum, and it"s great. So finally it has a great sounding system, a far cry from the original equipment, which was bloody awful.
So I guess they"re the main things, there"s lots of other maintenance things which are boring to list, like water pump some time ago, a pretty recent camcover gasket, ide control valve and battery, and a little while before that a clutch slave cylinder.Oh I also put new springs in the doorhandles, as these are a common thing to go, I think there"s a spare or 2 in the glove box, also some little chrome door lock pins, just to freshen it up a bit.
So for the bad bits, if you can still be bothered to read this essay..
The main things are, that over this winter, the electric roof has become a bit cranky, but giving it a hand as it goes up and down helps it out, and it goes up and down fine. It"s almost like the pump can"t lift the main roof, maybe there"s a leak, I"ve checked the hydraulic fluid, and it was low, but still the same, the pump makes a slight squeal noise as well. Something I would have got around to sorting if I was keeping it. But as I say you can help it along. Or even turn the ignition off, and do it manually.
Also over the winter the key fob for the alarm and central locking started becoming temperamental, till one day it stopped working, whilst alarm was armed. Opening the doors with the key just set the alarm off... So the only way to sort this was to call AA who just unplugged the alarm, which disarmed it properly. I only have the one red remote key. The key button hasn"t worked the doors since, it did once when I tried, so somethings slightly faulty, maybe the key or the receiver. I"m just not sure. I have replaced the batteries, and the actual button on the circuit board of the key, the red light on the key lights up but still not doing anything. So I"ve just kept the alarm unplugged, and use the key in the door to work the central locking. Again something I would get around to sorting out if I was keeping. Maybe something straight forward? If you get it fixed just plug the alarm system back in that"s under the drivers side plastic wing cover under the bonnet. It only has the one red remote button key, and the brown master key.
The centre light was a recent replacement from a breakers, after the original had got wet in rain I hadn"t noticed it had held a little water inside it which rusted the connections and shorted it out. I only found out when a fuse blew. So the replacement, the main light comes on as it should when the door opens, but the button to turn it on yourself doesn"t seem to work. This was only £5 so you"ll need to get another one. the bonnet has the usual stone chips, the paint work isn"t perfect with marks here and there. mainly on the top of the back bumper there are 2 patches of paint peel as can been seen. drivers side if you look in a certain light it seems there"s car park door hitting marks, not dented as such, you can see it in a few pictures, the way the light hits it around the petrol flap.Lastly on the MOT it has advisory of corrosion on suspension parts, I had noticed the spring pans looked like they could do with a wire brush and paint. The usual issue with these cars. But I wouldn"t say this is an urgent advisory just yet, they"ve just noted it as they do. And as you"d expect on a car of this age. I did have a full adjustable suspension kit and poly bush kit to fit, but never got around to it, so sold them all on.
So that"s pretty much it. A few issues on a 16year old car, but despite these, it has very low mileage and has had a lot of attention over the last few years. A perfect car for the summer, that has been much loved. Drives great, no mechanical problems, and I promise it"s a total head turner with the roof down. The car is in Penarth near Cardiff. Please contact me if you"d like to view it. Please no tyre kickers.. listed else where, so I may remove it, but I will inform any bidders first.
Cash on collection. Please feel free to ask any questions
