Then in May 2001 with 7,200 miles recorded it was sold by Aston Martin Sales of Mayfair to a Mr N Priest of Cadogan Square, London and Radnage, Berks for the sum of £80,000 (sales invoice on file). Mr Priest kept the car until 2011 when it was acquired by a Mr N Brown of Watlington Oxfordshire, Mr Brown has kept the car to date.
The DB7i6, was undoubtedly the car that saved Aston Martin from extinction; made mostly with resources from Jaguar with the financial backing of Ford, (the owner of Aston Martin from 1988 to 2007). The DB7"s platform is an evolution of the Jaguar XJS though with many changes. Tom Walkinshaw of TWR; engaged Ian Callum, (who was new in the car design work at the time) to design the car.
The DB7 was launched to the general public at the 1993 Geneva Motor Show. Due to the positive and overwhelming reception, the car was put into production as the Aston Martin DB7. Powered by a Jaguar 3.2 Litre Straight Six Supercharged engine the car produced 335 bhp and would reach, (where conditions allowed) a top speed of over 160 mph, with 0 to 60 mph in under 7 seconds.
In 1998 the factory immobiliser, was upgraded to a more reliable system, a high-level stop light and a driver’s airbag was fitted. In our experience the later models are the ones to target.
A very complete file of invoices and service documentation covering all three owners accompanies this car. There are 13 services recorded, with early the history at Aston Martin Main Dealers. This has now been collated by us into an easy to read table of maintenance for the next owner or prospective customers to view.
In our opinion and from our research this DB7 Volante is the most competitively priced example available in the UK at this time.
