vehicle description:

For sale with a heavy heart is my cherished Aston Martin DB9. I am only selling due to a house renovation that has run well over budget, ouch...
First registered in Sept 2005 on a 55 plate, she is is stunning condition and has been totally pampered by myself and the two previous owners from new. I have owned the car since December 2013 and used her as my daily driver for the first year of my ownership, adding 10,000 miles with total reliability. I have since only used her on dry days, covering around 3,500 miles each year, again with total reliability. The total mileage today stands at at 41,700 which is still very low for a 12 and a half year old car at less than 3,500 miles per year on average. The first owner was a man in his late 70"s who had always wanted an Aston and treated himself to the car but only covered about 7,000 miles in the first 5 years. The second owner was an AM owners club member who kept the car in a heated, moisture controlled garage and insisted on paying extra to send it back to the original supplying dealer for all works even though he lived 120 miles away!
The car is finished in what I believe IMHO to be the the best colour combination of Tungsten Silver Metallic (very 007) with Sandstone main and Phantom secondary hide and charcoal carpets with Aston Martin charcoal over mats fitted from new. The photos really do not do the car justice as they were taken on a dull February day! In sunlight the metallic paint really does sparkle! The bodywork is in fantastic condition with no scratches or dents with only a few small stone chips which do not really notice on a silver car. The bodywork and interior were treated with a full (very expensive) optional Autoglym "LifeShine" system when the car was new and I believe this has helped to maintain the condition of the paintwork ever since. The car was shown at the Beaulieu Supercar Weekend last summer and I spent £450 getting the paintwork machine buffed and polished and it came up like brand new. The specialist valeter who did the work could not believe the car was 11 years old!
The alloy wheels are generally in excellent condition, the rears are totally unmarked but the front drivers side has some scuffing so would benefit from being refurbished but I just haven"t got around to it yet. Similarly, the AM wheel centres do have some minor corrosion which happens to these items with age. These are available for £15 each , again I was planning to replace these before the Summer but haven"t got around to it yet. The red AM branded brake calipers were another expensive Aston option and really do set the wheels off a treat! A further factory fitted optional extra is the sports exhaust which makes the already fantastic 6.0 litre V12 sound bloody amazing.
The interior of the car is almost as new and the leather is in perfect condition with absolutely no rips, scuffs, or significant creasing, including the drivers seat bolster which is often the first place to show wear. The cream alcantara headlining is totally unmarked and the carpets and over mats are also virtually unworn. The car was fitted with the optional piano black centre console and instrument surround which in my opinion makes the car look much more modern than the wood veneer finish found on most early DB9s.
The car is fitted with AM"s semi automatic, touchtronic transmission which is great for pottering around town in auto but out on the open road, has manual paddle shift which, when used with the sport button switched on sharpens up the car"s responses significantly. Aside from standard equipment, the car has the upgraded Linn 280 watt hifi 5.1 surround sound system with subwoofer between the rear seats. The car has a retractable Sat Nav with a disc upgrade in 2014. Other optional extras include front parking sensors (rears are standard) and power folding mirrors. All equipment is in perfect working order and operates as it should do. Also included in the sale is an AM branded trickle charger in its original box which cost £300 new.
Mechanically the car is in perfect condition and has always been meticulously maintained. Everything about the car is in original spec as the car left the factory. It has deliberately not been "messed with" and this will help maintain and increase its value in future years. The only exception to this are the springs. One of the front springs broke and after much careful research, I decided to upgrade to stiffer lowering springs all round. These do not alter the ride which was already on the firm side but have massively improved the car"s handling which was slightly soft and "wallowy" on the standard items. It now corners much flatter and gives significantly better feedback and feel of what the wheels are doing in corners. As an added bonus, the car now rides 20mm lower all round which improves the look with the wheels actually filling the arches fully. The springs were fitted at great expense by Aston specialists Backdraft Motorsports in Milton Keynes.
Aside from the above, the car has a perfect service history with 15 stamps in the book, all at Aston main dealers. As mentioned earlier, until I owned the car it was always sent back to the supplying dealership, Harwoods of Chichester for all works, including servicing. Since owning the car it has been looked after by Lancaster Aston Martin in Cambridge. Service history is as follows:
Date Miles Carried out at21/09/05 46 Harwoods24/01/06 612 Harwoods30/10/06 2278 Harwoods09/10/07 4387 Harwoods06/08/08 5660 Harwoods10/09/09 6612 Harwoods25/08/10 7143 Harwoods16/09/11 12575 Harwoods14/09/12 17174 Harwoods28/08/13 20148 Harwoods28/03/15 30677 Lancaster21/03/16 33563 Lancaster11/04/17 37943 Lancaster
Aside from the above service history all stamped up in the original service book, I also have every single MOT certificate to further verify the mileage plus most of the service and other invoices from the previous owner. In terms of consumables, the car had 4 new Bridgestone (original fit) tyres in Feb 2016 about 8,000 miles ago so are about 50% worn. At the same time, the rear brake discs and pads were replaced. The front pads were replaced in Feb 2017, just less than 4,000 miles ago. The only other works that have been carried out under my ownership was the replacement of the drivers side window rubber (cost £350) as it was deformed and making an annoying whistling noise at speed.
As can be seen in the photos, I have the two original keys and remote fobs that were supplied with the vehicle, including the original dealer branded key fobs!
The only bad point I need to point out is that the car has a chipped/cracked windscreen. Really annoyingly, this was replaced due to a chip in March last year so was perfect until a stone hit me just before Christmas! I suspect it will be an MOT failure and looks rubbish but if the car sells for close to asking price, I will get the screen replaced on my insurance. The car is currently on SORN as I am not using it and please also note that my private reg is not included in the sale.
This is a truly regretful private sale of a genuinely stunning and much loved car. Any questions, please contact me via eBay. The car is located near Royston in Herts and viewing is by appointment only.
Thanks for lookingRob
