EXTERIOR
Aston Martin’s muscular V8 Vantage Coupe is surely one of the best looking cars ever created, and this example is in superb condition presented in special order Grigio Alloy. The paintwork pops beautifully under both studio and natural light – a rich metallic with a prominent silver flake. There are no hiding places with this special order and although the front of the car does feature a light dusting of stone chips, there is no peppering to either front or rear arches. The bright-work around the windows and the front quarter grilles maintain a wonderful finish, free from any crazing or cloudiness. The chrome twin tail pipes sit proudly recessed into the rear bumper, retaining an excellent shine with no residual heat issues on surrounding bodywork.
Optional high-performance High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights are included on this model, providing a brighter light and increased visibility of peripheral objects.
INTERIOR
The interior looks stunning with full heated Sandstorm leather that remains soft and supple with no discolouration, marks or creases. The anthracite trim is blemish free, whilst the Caspian Blue carpets maintain excellent colour and shape. Controls, including the crafted engine start button which proudly initiates a ‘Power / Beauty’ icon on the info screen, also feature the Aston Martin Premium Audio in-car entertainment system with six-disc CD changer, automatic climate control and sat-nav with CD. There is a considered nod to practicality too, with a boot stretching to 11 cubic feet.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The start up procedure of this compact 4.3 litre V8 result in a unique crackle before settling into a menacing growl. The torque characteristics of the engine allow for a broad operating bracket – the engine revs freely but is equally adept at cruising speeds. Under the bonnet is a small plaque proudly bearing the inscription ‘Handbuilt in England – Final inspection by Mick Freeman’ – a wonderfully personable addition in an era of digital supremacy. The drivetrain operates as it should, with no shift difficulty on cold start, and works intuitively as the car warms; transmission is a six-speed manual gearbox specially made in Italy by Graziano.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Rather than the standard 18-inch wheels this example comes with the optional 19-inch seven-spoke models, fully refurbished and in excellent condition. The car wears a matching set of Bridgestone Potenza’s, with new front tyres fitted at the last service in April. Grey calipers compliment the bright finish of the wheels and sit proudly wearing the manufacturer’s name.
HISTORY FILE
This car has had two previous lady owners and is supplied with a full Aston Martin service history – nine service stamps appear in the logbook with the last being at HWM in April 2014.
