A little history
Launched in 1998, the Bentley Arnarge broke with tradition by continuing to have its body built at the Crewe factory, but the classic large capacity V8 engine first seen in the Bentley S2 of 1959 was replaced with special twin-turbo version of the 4.4 litre BMW V8 developed by Cosworth Engineering.
Due to customer demand a revised version of the Arnarge was launched in 1999 using the old 6.75 ltr V8 engine with a single Garrett T4 turbocharger from the Turbo R. Named Red Label, the new model included several modifications such as a stiffer body shell, larger brakes and wheels, increased rear leg room  and a modified steering rack. The motoring press welcomed the return of the old V8 after criticising the BMW derived engine as ‘insipid and underpowered’.
2001 saw the introduction of an entirely reworked version of the 6.75 ltr V8 engine. More than half of the engine"s parts were completely new and two small Garrett T3 turbochargers replaced the previous single large T4. This new engine developed 399 and 616 lb ft. of torque.
Bentley launched their most powerful road going at the Detroit Motor Show in 2002. Named the Arnage T, the twin-turbocharged V8 had been tuned to develop 459 and 645 lb ft. of torque. The Arnarge T could hit 0–60 mph in 5.5 seconds and top out at 170 mph.
Those looking for the ultimate in craftsmanship and luxury choseBentley’s Mulliner division.  Owners could select a cabin trimmed entirely with leather, made from 17 hides and almost 400 separate pieces of leather that included the headlining and sun visors. The hand-crafted steering wheel alone taking 16 hours of double-stitching whilst the mirror-matched veneers for each car took 13 days to craft.
Built by hand, each Bentley Arnage took a least six weeks to build.
Our car
Our Bentley Arnarge T Mulliner was deliver by Broughtons of Cheltenham to its first keeper in March 2004. Finished in Beluga Black, with complete Beluga hide interior and Piano black veneers. The effect of the interior is spectacular with the Bentley monogramed Beluga Black quilted seats and doors matched with a quilted Beluga Black hide headlining and sun visors. The aluminium turned dash board and door inserts accentuate the bespoke yet sporting ambience. The original Alpine Satellite Navigation system has been upgraded to a Kenwood system and in the boot are matching his and hers umbrellas
The Beluga Black paintwork gives the car a very subtle yet brutal appearance, further set off by the original 19 split rim alloy wheels and the deep lustre of the bright work.
Today
Our Bentley has covered less than 24,000 miles since leaving Broughtons back in 2004. The car has been very well maintained and the complete service history and original book pack are supplied.
The condition of the exterior is incredible to what is essentially an 11 year old black car. There are really only two minor defects; a slight scuff to the edge of the front bumper, and a light scuff to one of the spoke of the off side rear wheel. Otherwise it’s near perfect.
Internally you would be hard pressed to distinguish thisBentley from a one year old car. There is virtually no wear save a little on the remote control for the Kenwood entertainment system.
