Mileage 24,850, owned since 2010 by a  member of the B.D.C. and R.R.E.C., purchased from P&A Wood at 19,000 miles with the previous owner being Paul Wood.
This fabulous coachbuilt fixedhead coupe is one of the last of the proper 100% Bentley Motors  built SZ series motor cars with every single component being bespoke and not borrowed from BMW or VW, they are the ultimate Gentleman’s grand tourer.  It’s the upgraded 1997 model with 17 inch alloy wheels, matrix grilles and restyled bumpers as well as curved pleats to the seats and a two tone steering wheel.  It has the later more powerful fuel injected engine, sports seats with integrated seat belts and dual airbags. This Conti R was registered on 11th September 1998 at Mead of Burnham and has been used sparingly, the present owner has two other Bentleys.  The two tone hide interior shows very little wear, the burr walnut woodwork is fabulous and the door trims and rear waistrails have boxwood inlay.  Every internal surface is either leather or wood, the lambswool overrugs are also included.    The original Alpine radio cassette is still in place with a C.D. autochanger in the front armrest as well as a period car telephone.  It also has an electric steering column which raises and lowers  automatically for the driver and has both town and country horns.  There are a few very minor marks on the coachwork but overall it is in superb condition.
Two owners manuals are included, the second is an optional hardback sleeved manual. The service book shows 9 services, all Bentley, mainly Broughtons, the last being carried out at P&A Wood, we also have an original sales brochure.  We have both sets of keys and remotes.
The V8 engine sounds lovely and performs superbly, it has the added benefit of a Prins L.P.G. conversion which keeps the existing petrol tank and a L.P.G. tank is located in the spare wheel well below the boot floor. This said conversion makes this ideal for Continental touring due to lower running costs and increased range.
These elegant fixedhead coupe Continental R’s are very rare is this condition and with such a low mileage, only 1,280 were built.  They are rising in value now due to rarity as per all the previous Continentals, R-Type Continentals are now fetching over £1 million.  Sadly prior to the present ownership the offside front  was accident damaged which resulted in it being classed as a Category C Insurance Write-off on 7th November 2009.  P&A Wood (the best Bentley restoration company in the world), repaired it to their highest standards.  It was passed to be returned to the road on 8th June 2010  and was sold to the present owner a month later, we have  the repair bill for £14,000.  This explains why the coachwork is so impressive  and this record is reflected in the price, we would be asking considerably more without it.  S1 Continental Fastbacks have risen ten fold in the last ten years, I am sure this will prove to be a sound long term investment.
 Can be viewed at the owners house near Boston and is kept alongside his motor car collection, it can be viewed by prior appointment in Lincolnshire.
