Bought and owned by me from new, it is finished in BMW Estoril Blue with silver noseband / bonnet stripe, and, with its black leather upholstery, it looks absolutely stunning. It has covered just 9,300 miles from new with service history from Caterham Midlands and Caterham specialist NJ Potter.
Powered by the 1.8 VVC 160 bhp engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox and a ZF Limited Slip Diff, it is the perfect power output for touring and also track use. Low revs with high torque for a steady Sunday afternoon blast, or press the loud pedal for electrifying handling and performance where appropriate. I do have the original standard diff that can be refitted if you prefer.
The Roadsport SV body gives a bit more width and length than the standard chassis. That extra space, together with the black leather trim, the full weather equipment, and even the heater, provides quite a reasonable level of comfort. The matching Oxted half hood provides protection from the elements, keeps the cockpit warm, and maintains the open air feel of the car.
It sits on Yokohama A048 tyres that still have most of the tread left. Currently the MOT expires in April 2017 but a fresh 12 month MOT will be provided for the new owner. I have four spare wheel rims available if you wanted to fit different tyres.
The car has been garaged from new and laid up every winter. I have very occasionally been caught out in the rain but for the vast majority of the time it has only been used in dry weather.
I have all the paperwork, mountains of it, from the original order right up to date.
It is a superb car with the perfect combination of engine, body, colour and specification. The local school kids will shout “nice car mate” whilst the grown-ups will tell you that they love the colour. Even little old ladies come to take a look and ask all about it.
