vehicle description:

I’m selling my Citroen Saxo. This car I must say has not been properly driven for about 6 months, apart from up and down my drive now and then.
It’s a great little car and very popular. It needs some work to get through the MOT.
New cambelt, alternator (reconditioned) and water pump (reconditioned) plus a pretty new exhaust (or a hardly driven one anyway).
Here is why I am selling:
I drove to work I guess back in November last year and at the end of the day started up the car to come home. It made a pretty bad noise and then wouldn’t do anything. The AA guy tells me the cambelt has gone. At this point I’m thinking it’s all over. However, the car wasn’t moving when the belt broke, I started the engine up from cold and that is when it snapped. And having rescued a car before with a cambelt problem I did some research and got the local cambelt guy to put a new one in. He did this and tells me there is no further damage – it’s good to go. I guess it wasn’t under any strain at the time as I started the engine from cold and hadn’t driven anywhere at all when it broke. I was stationary.
Anyway at the same time the cambelt guy said it needed a new water pump and alternator which I got all done by him at the same time, or a few days later anyway.
In the mean time I had borrowed a car, which I kept and still have so I no longer needed this car. I then tried to get it MOT’d in order to sell it, but the mobile mechanic failed to show up twice or maybe three times. At the same time I was working abroad for weeks on end and had to keep coming and going in and out of the UK so I no time to sort this thing out. In the end I decided to sell it in its current state rather than try to MOT it myself.

Car Condition

Body work looks fine to me.

Drives well as far as I know but as I say it has not left my drive for months.
The one major problem is that it overheats quite rapidly for some reason despite the new water pump. I have left the engine on to charge it up a bit and the car has become hot and the fan has come on – after only 15-20 minutes or so. This may be a problem for anyone who wants to drive it away. Mind you, I imagine it would have to be towed anyway as it is not road legal?
The exhaust is a bit noisy but I had Kwik-Fit fit an entire new exhaust system at great expense 2 years back so maybe that is still under warranty? It has been driven hardly at all since then. Maybe it is fine anyway I don’t know.

I have a lot of the records still available to see.

So anyway please come and have a look if you want to bid. I have sold cars before on Ebay and met some people who didn’t fully understand the auction process. For example, someone bidding £300, winning the auction, turning up and then saying, “would you take £200?” so I’d be keen to avoid this kind of misunderstanding this time i.e. please bid a figure only if you actually want to pay that much.

You can see on my Ebay profile that I just sell odds and ends and am certainly no car dealer. In fact I know very little about them in all honesty.
