vehicle description:

Excellent late Porsche 911 Carrera 2 6 Speed Manual 3.4 Convertible model.
2001 ‘X’ plate finishes in the iconic Polar Silver that’s in fantastic condition throughout with no expense spared.
It is in fantastic condition throughout and has just had thousands spent at the renowned Unique Porsche Specialists getting it mechanically excellent, making this one of the most sorted 996’s available in the U.K. today.
It has completed just over 100k genuine miles from new with a stack of service history and has clearly spent most of its parked life in a garage as the paint work and hood are both excellent. The tyres are all in great shape with excellent tread dept
Since I have bought the car I"ve taken time to ensure all is well condition wise. I have had the front seats restored with new foams and a reconnolisation session so they are now exceptionally comfortable and look fantastic, especially in the optional rare red leather interior option.
The standard specification includes a full leather interior, a lovely 3 spoke Leather steering wheel, ABS, Front fog lamps, Split folding rear seats, Faultless Electric roof, Remote central locking with alarm, All round electric windows and the clear indicator pack front and rear.
Further options fitted on this car that appealed to me when I bought it were the 18” 5 Spoke Alloy wheels, Sports seats and Sports exhaust which provides the perfect tone to show off that legendary 300PS flat 6 but isn’t loud or anti-social. The climate control has just been refurbished with new radiators (The corrode with age) clean and re gas and blows super cold when required There is also a genuine Porsche wind deflector fitted that helps minimise buffeting with the roof down. An graded headlight system is also fitted which makes a huge difference when driving at night and there is also a powerful upgraded lightweight Sony audio system incorporating iPod & Android integration. Porsche crests are also included on the seat head rests and look distinctive and classy. I was happy it didn"t have the optional rear parking sensors fitted as these were poorly integrated at the factory and look like a nasty afterthought.
The centre piece of this era of 911 is its engine and this car does not disappoint; there are no rattles, leaks, creaks, smoke or other noises as you would expect from such a well cared for car. It’s tuneful and tough naturally aspirated Variocam 6 is powerful, free revving and super smooth with everything working exactly as it should with no warning lights or service reminders.
This engine is know for its durability unlike the later 3.6 or 3.8 911 units with high efficiency as well as performance, being able to return 30mpg on a run and cover vast mileages with ease. The differential and gearbox are also in great shape with no cluncks, whirrs or rattles and the clutch is also fine. The engine was fully checked by ex-Hartec master technician Darren and proclaimed to be in excellent condition with none of the problems associated with other less cared for examples. The spark plug bore seals were renewed at the same time as the service, the coolant and brake fluid replaced and bled and the tricky-to-change fuel filter changed for a new genuine Porsche item.
The brakes perform exceptionally well with both discs and pads being healthy with no sticking callipers or wharped discs.
The suspension and steering feel fantastic as a full rebuild has just been completed including new Hartech coffin arms all round as well as multiple genuine Porsche suspension arms and bushes. The steering geometry was set afterwards making this the best handling and riding 911 I have driven.
It has a full 12 months MOT until May 2019, is HPI clear also qualifies for cheap road tax and Classic car insurance. It has just had its full service so won"t need another one for some time (and then it will just be the minor inspection 1 oil service).
This is almost certainly the best 996"s on sale and a bullet-proof investment that would suit someone who wants to use it as everyday transport or someone who would prefer to cherish it as part of their private collection.
Any inspections would be welcome. If you have any questions or would like to discuss further please do not hesitate to get in contact and thanks for looking.
