Hi ...here for sale is my Smart Convertible ..registered in my name and at my home address...I can"t stand those adverts where someone claims to be selling for their late aunties goldfish ( and so explaining away that the v5 is not in their name. BUT they are .. Definitely... not. not .not .a part time car dealer ..? )
I bought this car 3 months ago , to see if I would like the principle of a 2nd .. Much more economical...car just for the commute to work... The Smart fitted the bill perfectly as it"s ....ridiculously .?. cheap to run... Car tax is only 30 pound a year Fully comp insurance for me ,even with NO n.c.b. is only £103 per annum In my ownership ...over 65 mpg !
The added bonus that it"s a Convertible and with loads of character , means the idea has totally worked out for me . In all I am about 15 pound better off per week . But I am now going to buy a newer example of this car...it was always my intention to buy a much newer car if the idea of a separate commuter worked and was indeed , as it appeared , a cheaper option ...but the character of this Smart means I will be looking for a 3 or 4 year old example of this car again .....love it
I looked for 5 weeks for this car , wanting something with low mileage , decent spec ,fully working roof ( so many of these for sale with a roof that is not fully working and may just need a fuse )
This one came up , but unfortunately was advertised with no mention of any history .... When I contacted the owner he explained no history was passed on ... I decided to view anyway having checked the mot history with Vospa ... I still have the printout which is all good....all sequential .....proving mileage.... The car was exactly as described and in good condition ...and definitely the best I had seen , condition wise (there was one other which was lovely but it had over 102k and I thought I was happier with a lower mileage. )
The Smart is in nice condition ..it"s not perfect or immaculate it"s 15 years old and nice for that old a vehicle . the paintwork on the plastic panels polishes up well , it"s nicely presentable for the money I want.. There are three small areas of wear / rubbing on the plastic panels .... 1. And 2. Mirror images of each other on the wings where the doors slightly rub about 10 mm high and 80 mm long , shown in photos 10 and 12 3. A small scuff to the drivers side rear wing around the leading edge. Photo 11All 3 could be repaired with only paint .. No filling or sanding etc ... But they are so small I didn"t bother
There is also a couple of rust bubbles , one inside the drivers door shut and one tiny blister in the removable t-bar type piece over the door ...
All the above , age related blemishes , seemed inconsequential to me , but trying to be as honest as possible in the advert .
This is the earlier 600 cc version and has the six speed gearbox with flappy paddles on the steering wheel , as well as a sequential gear stick in the traditional location. It has a fully automatic capacity too , which I use most of the time ..this is activated by a small button on the side of the gear stick .
The seats are leather ....well they are mainly leather with a breathable material in the center back rest ..... I think it"s so their not too Hot in the summer ...
I have listed it with full mot ...it has a current ticket for about 6 weeks but when I have agreed a sale with someone , I will give it a new mot within the agreed price ....that only seems right to me and I am confident it will sale through an mot ....
OK I am advertising the car at £400 less than I paid as I"ve done probably just over 1500 miles in it... And suddenly it"s the right time of year to sell a Convertible , which will bolster the price in my favour a little .The mileage will creep up as I am using it most days.... It"s not big enough for the tip run , and does not have a tow are either .?,so don"t use it every day ... I am open to a sensible offer but won"t respond to what"s the lowest you"ll take for it mate type messages ....make me an offer and I will consider it ... Simple
If you come to view and like it , I might consider delivery on a sat or sun am ,,to suit you ,,for a negotiable fee if that was to help you out ...but only after payment has been made .... This makes it simpler with the new tax system ...where the current tax IS NOT VALID for the new owner even just to drive it home ...rant ahead...In my opinion a government sourced , money making scheme , that taxes every car purchase by requiring both buyer and seller to pay the car tax for the same month ....kerching..????
it will be available for viewing from 6th July ....contact me for any further information , or indeed , to arrange a viewing .....I am happy for you to take the car off for as long as you need / want ..For any inspection , as long as you can prove insurance cover ...and leave the keys to whatever you have turned up to the viewing in ...otherwise it will be me taking you on a test run ..as long as you like...professional inspection is also not a problem although not sure if it"s worth it in this price bracket... Your call...

Relished after 2 ten day listing 600+views and 50+watchers but only one offer based on it"s the book price mate when a book price car will have done 100"000 + ...... Reduced by 150 to help me clear it off the drive ... Her indoors wants it gone ....
