Up for a reluctant sale is my Fourtak. Reluctant, because we simply need to do more miles in our second vehicle and for this the Fourtak is not cutting the mustard. It has been cutting it beautifully for the past 6 years we have owned it since during that time we have not had to do many miles - it has only covered 30,000 in the last 10 years. It is utterly reliable, the only breakdown in that time being due to leaving the lights on - soon fixed with a spare battery. This is one of the last of the Fourtraks and it has all of the later features, such as electric windows, power steering, immobiliser etc etc. The truck has much paperwork, bills, lots of MOT history. I have kept up with the body work, and had it professionally undersealed. We have used it for its proper purposes, that is on and off-road but only for a pretty limited off-road use, collecting firewood with trailer etc. The 4 x 4 works fine, no problems going into and out of the high and low box.
Good points:
Well maintained by me with kit from Millner Off-road
Heaps of history
MOT until July next year
Low recent mileage
Decent tyre tread, 2 of them almost new
Had welding sorted - you are not buying trouble
Starts on the button, every time
No mechanical nasties, utterly reliable
Not been used as a farm runaround
Only 2 owners since 2006
No smoke from engine
No whines or rattles from gears/diffs/transfer box.
7 seats - take the whole family! (And the dogs).
Not so good points:
Body work dings and scrapes - not an oil painting
Some canine testing of seat belt floor anchors - but all ok for MOT
Original reversing light gone but replaced with much better work light, adjustable.
It is not uneconomical for a Fourtak but they don"t do that many to the gallon.
There are some scratches on the bonnet caused by hungry horses - not a big deal, please see pictures. The rear wiper is broken. There is no spare on the backdoor as the Suzuki alloy does not fit on the carrier; the spare is inside.
