Here we have my Daihatsu Hijet window van. I bought the van 3 months ago from an elderly gentleman who had owned the vehicle since 2005. He said that in 2006 he had his mechanic fit a reconditioned engine to the van. The van starts, runs and drives well. It uses no water or oil and never gets hot. Originally, I bought the van to convert into a micro camper but due to a change in circumstances the hijet is now up for sale.
On Jan the 13th I took the van to be MOT"d and the van passed easily with only one advisory that the front brake pads are just over half worn. At the same time I had the garage give the engine a service with good quality oil. The van has good tyres and is clean and tidy inside. The seats are clean and comfy and there is a CD player fitted. Also the side windows roll down which is really handy. It has 2 sunroofs which would be ideal for a camper conversion.As you would expect from a van of this age there are a few marks on the body. There is a patch of rust on one of the rear arches, one of the sliding door handles is missing but still can be opened from the inside. The reverse light lens is broken and the starter motor makes a noise sometimes but it always starts the van fine (the garage said to ignore it.)
The van is a 1000cc, 3 cylinder petrol, 5 speed manual. The van pulls nicely through the gears and will happily sit at 60 mph without revving harshly. It returns a good MPG of over 40 miles per gallon. The van is really good fun to drive with loads of character.
